Abstract: The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material, comprising Li, M', and oxygen, wherein M' comprises Ni, Co, Mn, B Q, wherein Q is an element other than Li, O, Ni, Co, Mn, and B and wherein the positive electrode active material has an enriched amount of B in the surface layer and wherein said positive electrode active material comprises secondary particles comprising a plurality of primary particles having a low crystallite size.
