Abstract: A battery management apparatus according to one embodiment disclosed herein, may comprises: a sensor which obtains the voltage of a battery unit; and a controller which generates a differential profile for a first differential value, which is the amount of change in the voltage with respect to the amount of change in the SOC of the battery unit, on the basis of the SOC of the battery unit and the voltage, detects SOCs respectively corresponding to second differential values included in a threshold range among second differential values obtained by differentiating the differential profile, detects peak values of the differential profile among first differential values, corresponding to the detected SOCs, in the differential profile, and determines the state of the battery unit on the basis of the peak values of the differential profile.
