Improved Clethodim Emulsifiable Concentrate Composition

Abstract: The invention relates to herbicidal emulsifiable concentrate (EC) compositions comprising clethodim or an agriculturally acceptable salt thereof, a stabilizing emulsifier system comprising a fatty acid ethoxylate and a calcium alkylbenzene sulfonate, and an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, wherein the composition is free of epoxidized oil fatty acids and epoxidized fatty acid esters. The stabilizing emulsifier system is present in an amount of 0.5 to 5% w/w and provides improved storage stability and emulsion performance upon dilution, with preferred stabilizer amounts and component ratios. The invention further provides processes for preparing the EC compositions and methods for controlling undesirable vegetation by applying an effective amount of the composition to a locus.
