Gas Delivery Tube (Gdt) Assembly For A Hydrogen Port Fuel Injection (Pfi) Engine And Method Thereof

Abstract: ABSTRACT GAS DELIVERY TUBE (GDT) ASSEMBLY FOR A HYDROGEN PORT FUEL INJECTION (PFI) ENGINE AND METHOD THEREOF. The present invention discloses a gas delivery tube (GDT) assembly (100) for a hydrogen port fuel injection (PFI) engine, comprising: an intake manifold (302) defining a plurality of intake runners, each intake runner terminating at an intake port of a corresponding cylinder; a cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) extending partially into the intake port by approximately 10 mm, configured to deliver hydrogen gas toward a central region of the intake port proximate to an intake valve; a hexagonal adaptor (104) configured to mechanically couple the cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) to the intake manifold (302); and a sealing member (106) to prevent leakage of hydrogen gas during operation; and a hydrogen injector interface (304) configured to supply hydrogen gas to the cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) at an injection pressure ranging from 6 bar to 15 bar. <>

Specification

Description:GAS DELIVERY TUBE (GDT) ASSEMBLY FOR A HYDROGEN PORT FUEL INJECTION (PFI) ENGINE AND METHOD THEREOF
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of fuel delivery systems for internal combustion engines, and more particularly to a gas delivery assembly for a hydrogen port fuel injection (PFI) engine and method thereof.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engines, particularly those employing port fuel injection, face significant cha , Claims:We Claim:
1. A gas delivery tube (GDT) assembly (100) for a hydrogen port fuel injection (PFI) engine, comprising:
an intake manifold (302) defining a plurality of intake runners, each intake runner terminating at an intake port of a corresponding cylinder;
a cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) extending partially into the intake port by approximately 10 mm, the cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) being configured to deliver hydrogen gas toward a central region of the intake port proximate to an intake valve;
a hexagonal adaptor (104) configured to mechanically couple the cylindrical gas delivery tube (102) to the intake manifold (302), wherein the hexagonal adaptor (104) comprises ISO-compliant external wrenching surfaces and internal threading, configured to receive the cylindrical gas delivery tube (102);
a sealing member (106) comprising a Fluororubber (FKM) O-ring positioned between the hexagonal adaptor (104) and the intake manifold (302) to prevent leakage of hydrogen gas during operation; and
