“Geo Fencing Enabled Smart Shoe With Real Time Location Monitoring And Automatic Safety Alerts For School Children”

Abstract: ABSTRACT A geo-fencing enabled smart shoe assembly comprises an embedded electronic safety module integrated within the footwear's sole for the continuous, non-intrusive monitoring of a wearer’s location. The module includes a microcontroller, a location detection unit for real-time coordinate acquisition, and a wireless communication unit. By comparing real-time location data against stored geo-fenced safe zones, the system autonomously detects boundary violations and transmits automated alerts to pre-registered recipients. The invention operates independently of smartphones and is enclosed in a durable, tamper-resistant casing suitable for daily use as part of a school uniform.

Specification

Description:DETAILED DESCRIPTION
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the smart shoe is constructed with an embedded electronic safety module positioned within a cavity formed in the midsole or heel portion of the footwear. The placement is strategically engineered to maintain the shoe's center of gravity and flexibility, ensuring that the presence of the electronics does not induce gait abnormalities or discomfort. The module is encased in a shock-resistant, water-resistant, and dust-proof polymer housing that protects the internal circuitry from the high-impact stresses of childhood activity and environmental moisture. The central processing element, a microcontroller, manages the duty cycle of the location detection unit, which may comprise a Global Positioning System (GPS) or Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver. This unit periodically acquires latitude and longitude coordinates, which are then processed against a localized database of geo-fenced safe zones stored within the module's non-volatile memory.
An alternative embodiment contemplates a dynamic geo-fencing configuration where the "safe zones" are not static but are instead time-variant, corresponding to a child’s specific school schedule or extracurricular transit routes. When the microcontroller determines that the wearer has exited a permitted zone, it activates a GSM or LPWAN communication module to broadcast an emergency packet. This packet includes a unique device identifier, a timestamp, and the precise geographical coordinates of the breach. To ensure persistent operation, the power management unit includes a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and a low-power sensing circuit that triggers a "critically low battery" notification to the guardian's terminal before the system becomes non-functional. Charging of the internal battery may be achieved through a concealed, moisture-sealed micro-USB port or via inductive wireless charging coils integrated into the sole, allowing the shoe to be charged simply by being placed on a charging mat. The entire assembly is integrated during the shoe manufacturing process, using standard industrial materials to ensure that the finished product is indistinguishable from standard school uniform footwear, thereby maintaining the concealment of the security device.
Advantages of the Invention
The present invention offers a superior reliability profile compared to traditional wearables because footwear is a mandatory and consistent component of a child's attire, significantly reducing the likelihood of the device being forgotten or removed. Its concealed nature provides a "security through obscurity" benefit, preventing potential bad actors from identifying and disabling the tracking mechanism. Furthermore, the autonomous nature of the system ensures that the child is protected without needing to operate complex interfaces or carry a mobile phone, which is often prohibited in educational institutions. The system's independence from continuous high-speed internet makes it uniquely viable for rural or semi-urban deployment, ensuring a wide socio-economic applicability.
, Claims:CLAIMS:
We Claim:
1. A geo-fencing footwear system for autonomous safety monitoring, comprising: a footwear unit having an upper and a sole portion; an electronic safety module integrated within said sole portion, said module comprising a microcontroller, a location detection unit, a memory unit, and a wireless communication interface; wherein the memory unit stores at least one predefined geo-fenced boundary; and wherein the microcontroller is configured to periodically compare real-time geographical coordinates from the location detection unit with the stored geo-fenced boundary to detect a boundary violation.
2. The system of claim 1, wherein the microcontroller is further configured to trigger the wireless communication interface to transmit an alert notification to a remote terminal automatically upon detection of a boundary violation, said notification comprising a device identifier and current geographical coordinates.
3. The system of claim 1, wherein the electronic safety module is enclosed within a hermetically sealed, shock-resistant housing adapted to withstand mechanical stresses associated with human gait.
4. The system of claim 1, further comprising a power management system including a rechargeable battery and a sensor for detecting a low-voltage state, wherein the microcontroller generates a power-status alert when the battery charge falls below a predetermined threshold.
5. The system of claim 1, wherein the location detection unit comprises a multi-constellation GNSS receiver configured for high-precision coordinate acquisition.
6. The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless communication interface utilizes a cellular network protocol to transmit data packets independently of localized Wi-Fi or smartphone tethering.
7. The system of claim 1, wherein the predefined geo-fenced boundaries are associated with specific temporal windows stored in the memory unit, such that alerts are suppressed during permitted transit times.
8. The system of claim 1, wherein the footwear unit is configured as a standard school uniform shoe to facilitate concealed, non-intrusive monitoring.
9. The system of claim 1, wherein the sole portion comprises a recessed cavity specifically dimensioned to house the electronic safety module without compromising the structural integrity or flexibility of the footwear.
10. The system of claim 1, wherein the electronic safety module is configured to interface with a centralized institutional safety management platform for the remote configuration of geo-fenced parameters.
