Abstract: ABSTRACT “Hydrogen Bond Surrogate (HBS)-Helicomimics for Selective Binding to dsDNA” The present disclosure provides synthetic peptides that contain about 6-9 amino acids and a hydrogen bond surrogate between the first amino acid and the fourth amino acid, preferably glycine, which facilitates a stable alpha-helical configuration of the peptide. The peptides of the 5 present disclosure mimic the DNA binding domains of zinc finger 7, 8, and 9 of ZFP568 and bind to the target DNA sequences with nanomolar affinities. The present disclosure also provides a conjugate comprising the peptide and a moiety, wherein the moiety is linked at the N or C terminus of the peptide. The present disclosure further provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising the peptides or the conjugates described herein.
