Claims

1. An interactive folk song preservation and performance simulation system comprising: a data collection and digitization module configured to acquire and enrich folk songs with metadata; an AI-assisted categorization module configured to classify songs by political themes, emotional tones, and performance elements; and a VR-based immersive simulation module configured to reconstruct authentic performance contexts for user interaction.

The invention relates to an interactive folk song preservation and performance simulation system using AI and VR. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Folk songs have historically functioned as living repositories of cultural memory, political resistance, and identity formation. In Telangana, for example, songs performed during the statehood movement carried narratives of protest, social justice, and collective resilience. However, these traditions are under serious threat due to the rapid decline of oral transmission, the passing away of elder performers, and the limited reach of conventional archives. While digital repositories and recordings have emerged to preserve folk songs, they remain static collections that reduce living traditions to mere data points.
Current solutions focus primarily on storing lyrics or audio, often stripping songs of their performance context—including instruments, gestures, costumes, and community participation—that give them meaning. Without this context, future generations, researchers, and cultural practitioners cannot fully appreciate the political and emotional depth embedded in these traditions. Moreover, existing digital tools rarely integrate advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR), which could enable dynamic preservation and immersive cultural experiences.
The absence of immersive, AI-assisted platforms means that folk songs remain archived but not lived, limiting their ability to inspire, educate, and mobilize. There is, therefore, an urgent need for an innovative system that not only archives but also simulates authentic performance environments, while simultaneously using AI to analyze and categorize songs by political, emotional, and cultural dimensions. Such a system would ensure the preservation, accessibility, and continued vitality of Telangana’s folk traditions for both scholarly research and community engagement.
