An Integrated Iot And Cloud Based Solution For Efficient Drainage Management

Abstract: The present invention discloses an integrated IoT-enabled intelligent drainage monitoring and automated maintenance system for efficient drainage management. The system comprises ultrasonic sensors, flow sensors, gas sensors, environmental sensors, a microcontroller-based processing unit, wireless communication modules, cloud analytics infrastructure, predictive warning mechanisms, and automated cleaning devices. Real-time drainage parameters including water level, flow rate, gas concentration, and environmental conditions are continuously monitored and transmitted to a cloud platform for storage, visualization, and analysis. Weather forecasting information is integrated to provide predictive flood warnings. Upon detection of abnormal conditions such as overflow, blockage, stagnation, or hazardous gas accumulation, alerts are generated through mobile applications, SMS, email, and alarm systems. An automated servo motor-driven cleaning mechanism removes minor obstructions without human intervention. The invention enhances drainage management efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, improves environmental protection, supports smart city infrastructure, and provides scalable solutions for municipal, industrial, and wastewater drainage systems.

Specification

Description:The present invention discloses an integrated IoT-based drainage monitoring and maintenance system comprising multiple sensing modules, wireless communication interfaces, cloud-based analytics, predictive warning mechanisms, and automated maintenance subsystems.
The sensing subsystem includes ultrasonic sensors for water level measurement, flow sensors for monitoring drainage movement, gas sensors for detecting hazardous gases, and optional environmental sensors. Sensor data are acquired through a microcontroller-based processing unit such as ESP32 or NodeMCU.
The acquired information is transmitted through Wi-Fi, GSM, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, or equivalent communication technologies to a cloud platform. The cloud infrastructure performs data storage, analytics, visualization, trend analysis, and predictive modeling. Weather forecast information is integrated into the platform to predict flooding conditions.
When abnormal conditions such as overflow, gas accumulation, stagnation, or blockage are detected, the system automatically generates notifications through mobile applications, SMS, email alerts, and alarm systems.
The invention further incorporates an automated self-cleaning mechanism driven by servo motors that remove minor obstructions without human intervention.
The proposed invention provides a comprehensive, scalable, low-cost, and intelligent solution for smart drainage management, environmental protection, and disaster prevention in urban and industrial environments.
