, Description:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field switches and fan regulators, and more specifically, relates to a fan regulator where speed controller is achieved through voltage input regulation and the current voltage or step level is to be known by a customer.

BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] A fan regulator is a crucial component that serves to increase or decrease the speed of your fan according to your needs. You have a choice between conventional and electronic regulators. The technology along with the circuitry that controls the fan speed is quite complex.
[0004] Older versions of conventional regulators were quite bulky to look at. A square box jutting out of a board with a circular knob or toggle switch did not make for very sleek appearance. The box contained the circuit elements of the regulator system. User had to adjust the knob to set the fan at the desired speed. Modern day conventional regulators present just a toggle on a board that incorporates the switches for the other electrical devices for the room. User does not get to see the regulating unit concealed in the wall behind the board. The regulator has spools of wire with different amounts of resistances. When user set the knob at a particular position, user includes a certain resistance in series with the fan. A series connection implies the resistance is in line with the fan. This reduces the voltage drop across the fan and its speed to user desired level. The greater the resistance, higher is the voltage drop across it and that lowers the speed of the fan.
[0005] It is known in the prior-art, a fan regulator or rotary knob level indication is provided through laser marking with numerals or Roman letters or symbols. However, due to lag in rotary travel and because of larger clearances, the indication has a mismatch, from a longer distances customer is unable to view the state of knob and the level of speed. During night time, marking is not visible. In some cases, the knob is broken due to the rotary force applied to further rotate the knob as the fan regulator does not have a 360-degree rotation, both clock-wise and anti-clockwise rotation. In conventional fan regulator, as shown in FIG. 1, regulator indication is provided through pictorial representation of speed levels. In another conventional fan regulator, as shown in FIG. 2, regulator indication is provided through numerical indication with an arrow on base plate. In another existing prior-art, as shown in FIG. 3, regulator indication is provided through numerical indication which is on base plate and arrow marked on rotary knob. In another conventional fan regulator, as shown in FIG. 4, roman numerals are used for indication. In another conventional fan regulator, as shown in FIG. 5, linear display is provided where construction is through a rotary to linear conversion for status of speed display. In other variety of a fan regulator, as shown in FIG. 6, consists of speed indication but with a small window. It has two knobs placed one over the other. The circumferential knob is rotary and the front visible knob is stationary. The speed indication is by numerical visible through the window placed on the stationary knob. However, visibility being a major issue with the construction as the readability becomes zero in low lighting. More number of components and process to achieve the intended function. No 360-degree rotation of the knob.
[0006] However, the conventional fan regulator present in market requires either more no. of components or an additional process to provide indication for speed. Further, in the conventional fan regulator, even after the indication being provided through additional process, consistency of indication is not achieved. Furthermore, in the existing fan regulator readability in low lighting (indoor) or from a distance is not achieved. Additionally, in the existing fan regulator mechanical flag indication with 360-degree, clockwise and anti-clockwise, rotation of the knob is not achieved.
[0007] Further, the conventional fan regulator, use complex mechanism to achieve the intended function in 360-degree rotation of knob. Furthermore, the conventional fan regulator, there is poor correlation of the knob position to the indication markings available on the product.
[0008] Whereas there is certainly nothing wrong with existing fan regulator, nonetheless, there still exists a need to provide an efficient, effective, reliable, and improved fan regulator in which true state speed indication is achieved by a mechanical flag in 360-degree rotation of knob mechanism. Further, there is a need of a fan regulator with improved visual ergonomics to ease visibility of the fan regulator’s knob position from a distance. Furthermore, there is a need of a fan regulator in which speed control is achieved through voltage input regulation and the current voltage or step level is to be known by customer. Additionally, there is a need of a fan regulator which requires simple mechanism unlike conventional regulator such as gears and simple assembly process.
