A Backshell Assembly

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a backshell assembly (100) for providing protection and support to a connector assembly (202). The backshell assembly comprises a first component (102) and a second component (104), each having a body portion (106-1, 106-2) and a neck portion (112-1, 112-2) with a semi-elliptical cross-section. When attached, the neck portions form an elliptical cross-section to receive and engage a connector input end (208) of varying cross-section area within a predefined range. The backshell assembly may include a clamping mechanism (116) for attachment and may accommodate connectors with different cross-section areas, reducing the number of individual backshell assemblies for different connectors. The assembly may also include a guide pin (220) and hole (222) mechanism for alignment and secure attachment.
