Abstract: The present invention relates to a ‘Base plate’ for mounting the ‘led Driver’ or power supply in industrial and commercial LED light fixtures. Industrial (and commercial) led light fixtures, (sometimes also referred to as “highbay” LED lights) are widely used for illumination of warehouses, factories, go-downs, ports, railway stations, halls and at various other places. The base plate performs 5 distinct functions. These are: 1. Provides support for the mounting of the Led driver 2. Isolation of LED driver from rest of the LED light 3. Isolation of LED driver from direct heat coming from the LEDs via heatsink. Special ‘studs’ at the bottom (5 Nos) creat space between the baseplate and the underlying “Heatsink” which dissipates the LED heat. 4. Receives the bolts from the “LIGHT COVER” (Bearing patent no. 3686/MUM/2015), so as to complete the assembly of the light fixture. The novelty of the present invention lies in its design which fulfills the above mentioned functions.
Claims:1. A base plate for mounting the ‘LED driver” in an Industrial LED light fixture which is made up of heat resistant plastics with or without glass content.
2. A base plate for the Led driver of any industrial/ architectural or commercial LED light which isolates the driver from the rest of the LED light fixture.
3. A base plate made up of plastic/heat resistant plastic/polymer /copolymer or any other insulating material, which protects the LED driver from the heat dissipated by the LEDs and the heat sink
4. A mechanical object or part so designed, that it provides mounting support to the LED driver in an industrial LED light fixture, and is also fastened to another part, ‘Light cover’ (Bearing patent no. 3686/MUM/2015), so as to complete the assembly of the light fixture.
5. A base plate for the LED driver performs dual function of providing mounting support and protection from heat emitted by the Led and /or the heat sink.
6. An article as claimed in Claim 1 to 5, substantially as herein described and illustrated.
, Description:
The present invention, A ‘Base plate’ provides the mounting support to the ‘LED driver’, a critical component of any industrial LED light.
The ‘Base plate’ has been designed to mount the LED driver and be compatible with all other parts of the LED light fixture.
The base plate has been made using superior quality ‘Glass-filled’ plastics such as polycarbonate, acrylic, nylon or any other polymer or co-polymer. This is to make it resistant to high temperature. The baseplate also isolates the LED driver from the rest of the LED light fixture to prevent short circuit. This also prevents the excessive heat generated by the LEDs to reach the driver and cause damage.
The base plate receives the bolts from the “LIGHT COVER” (Bearing patent no. 3686/MUM/2015), so as to complete the assembly of the light fixture.
The baseplate has been provided with the following features to perform its varius functions:
1. Driver mounting (fixing) holes:
The base plate has been provide with 3 holes for mounting an Industrial LED driver. The holes have been elevated to a height of 3-5mm so as to crate sufficient space between the LED driver PCB and the baseplate itself
2. Contact isolation of the LED driver:
The base plate prevents any contact of the driver to the rest of the led fixture. This protects the driver and the fixture from any chance of a short circuit or electrocution.
3. Protection of the driver from heat generated by the LED fixture
The base plate performs a very important function of protecting the LED driver from the heat generated by the LEDs.
The base plate has been constructed in special ‘glass-filled’ polymers so as to shield the Led driver from the direct heat coming from the LEDs (via the heat sink).
The base plate has been provided with ‘special studs’ which create adequate space between the driver and the rest of the LED fixture.
