Abstract: This invention relates to a bath tub comprising an elongated tub having a raised level constituting a seat and deeper level in conjunction with adjacent walls acting as a water reservoir during the bath. The bath tub of invention is convenient and safe to use particularly by infants. It saves water and prevents risk of injury to infant. Further, it is portable and allows bather to give bath comfortably without getting wet.

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a bath tub particularly for infant. The bath tub can be
used for multipurpose as it is additionally provided with a plurality of
accessory and toy holders.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
For bathrooms without a tub it is cumbersome to bathe a young child who is
unable to bathe on his own. For infants who have mobility and stability but
have not yet learned to bathe on their own, usually an adult is required for
supervision. Most likely, children between the ages of 1 and 4 fit in this
category.
As of now, the adult usually bathes children with the help of a mug and
bucket, during which the child is either seated (on the floor or on stool) or
standing with support from a wall or the bather. The bather is also either
standing or seated on the stool. The bather has to make sure that the child
does not slip or fall while giving the bath. This creates risk of injury as the
bather's attention may be diverted from the children (for example for reaching
out to grab soap or making sure the water is not running over). Either way it is
not safe for the child given the floor is wet, slippery and soapy and as a result
both persons can lose their footing (balance).
In addition, the bather also tends to get wet, as the water is not contained
during the bath. The bather may invariably get wet as either from his own
actions or the child's movement as some water may splash around. Again, the
bather's feet, due to contact with the floor definitely remain wet.
Hence tub is required to be in bathroom for comfort and safety of both infant
and adult. The Bath tub addresses both issues of safety and water
containment by virtue of its design and features, in which the child is
-3-
comfortably seated during the entire bath. Some Patents are known to have
been provided in the art discussed hereinbelow:-
IN 173185;- It relates to an improved bath tub having sloping back rest and
sloping side surfaces characterized in that the bottom surface of the bath tub is
comprised of a) a thigh resting region; b) a shower region. Said thigh resting
region formed of an upwardly extending sloped surface portion connected at
one end to the lower edge of said back rest and at its other end to said shower
region said shower region provided at a level above said lower edge of said back
rest, said shower region contiguous to said thigh resting region and formed of a
flat surface.
Another prior art is directed to an infant health-care bath-tub comprising a
bathtub body. The bottom part of the inner part of the bathtub body is
provided with a skid proof rubber pad, and a layer of protrusion cylindrical
massage heads are distributed on the surface of the skid proof rubber pad. The
rim of the bathtub body is provided with arm rests each of which is made from
a hollow pipe, and each arm rest is connected with the wall face of the bathtub
body through a support connecting piece. A nozzle which faces the inner part
of the bathtub body is arranged on the hollow pipe body of each arm rest, and
the port of each arm rest is communicated with a water supply pipeline of the
bathtub body; to ensure an infant's bath safety, the point of each arm rest is
also provided with a floating ring which can be sheathed at an infant's waist,
and the floating rings are favorable for an infant to stand upright in water.
None of the above fulfill requirements of the present invention. Hence the
invention "A bath tub for infant" has been introduced.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Primary object of the present invention is to provide a bath tub particularly for
infant which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a bath tub particularly for
infant which is simple in construction and reliable.
Further object of the present invention is to provide a bath tub particularly for
infant which ensures safety and comfort while bathing.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a bath tub comprising an
elongated tub having a raised level constituting a seat and deeper level in
conjunction with adjacent walls acting as a water reservoir during the bath.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 and 2 shows: perspective view of bath tub according to the present
invention.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS;-
The invention discloses a bath tub particularly for infant. Now, reference may
be made to fig. 1, wherein the bath tub comprising a tub (1), internal base of
which is having two levels, out of which one level is higher (raised) and another
level is lower (deeper level). The raised level (2) acts as seat for the child used to
sit thereon.
The deeper level (3) in conjunction with surrounding adjacent walls constitutes
a water reservoir during the bath. Any water flowing down during bathing gets
collected in the reservoir thereby preventing spillage of water outside the tub.
Further, an anti-slip mat (4) is provided on the lower level (3). So that in both
seated position or standing position while entering or exiting the tub, the user's
feet remain firmly footed on the mat.
As already mentioned, the raised level acts as seat. However, as the child grows
and becomes taller or for taller children, multiple seating positions at different
height can be provided by means of a detachable seat (6).
There is provision of a plurality of slots (5) on both side walls above the raised
level (2) as shown in fig. 2.
A pair of slots (one from each side wall) provided at the same level constitutes a
resting means for a detachable seat (6). So that the seat (6) can be adjusted at
different level according to the requirement. So that children of any height can
be comfortably accommodated inside the tub.
-6-
The detachable seat can be pulled out horizontally and pushed back into the
slots positioned on the inner side wall of the tub i.e. besides adjustment for
height the seat can also be adjusted forwards and backwards to match the
seating comfort of the child and bather.
The seat (6) comprising a plurality of holes (H) with handle (7) on both sides as
shown to hold onto during the bath. The handles are such that the child can
hold onto the seat without obstructing the bather. The perforations (H) act as
passage for water flow while bathing. So that the water can be accumulated in
the water reservoir.
The back inner wall of the tub is sloped by providing the same at an angle with
respect to vertical axis thereby making provision of adequate back and lumber
support to the child. The user can also lean back comfortably.
There may be provision of a hinged door provided on one side of the tub for
entry and exist. This allows easy entry and exit and prevents the child from
climbing into the tub.
The tub ensures safety for the bather. As the bather is outside this bath tub at
all times, therefore less likely to get wet and can sit comfortably (on a stool)
next to the bath tub and perform his duties. Since both persons are seated
there is less chance of slipping or falling. The top edges of the tub are extend,ed
upwards and rounded off to allow the water to slide down along the inner wall.
This feature is enlarged in the back portion of the tub, as it receives maximum
water. The maximum height from which water is dropped is from over the head
of the child, hence the expanded back portion to capture this falling water. A
gap is maintained between the seat and the inner back wall to allow passage of
water therethrough. After the bath, whole of the water contained in the tub can
be removed by opening the tap in the bottom. This tap can be placed directly
over the drainage hole in the floor, such that no water can spill in the
-7-
bathroom. The bottom of the tub is sloppy to allow water run-off towards feet
i.e. towards the seat. As the entire tub is preferably made from plastic or an
equivalent lightweight material, it can be easily lifted and moved with the help
of the handle provided to shake off any excess water still stuck in the tub. The
tub also Has provision for holding soap cake or soap/shampoo bottle and the
soap dish/shampoo bottle holder is foldable. This can be provided in the form
of cutouts in the front on either side of the handle. This keeps all bathing
supplies within easy reach of the bather. The tub of invention allows the bather
to remain dry during the bath and be seated comfortably (say, on a stool) while
giving the bath.
The inventive tub can be manufactured in any size. Therefore its application
can be extended to old, disable, infirm people even to pets such as dogs, cats
etc.
