A BAYONET CAP INTEGRATED WITH A HEAT SINK FOR A LED
BULB
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure, in general, relates to a bayonet cap for a bulb and specifically relates to the bayonet cap integrated with the LED bulb Heat Sink and also fulfilling the criteria of lighting standards.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Bayonet cap attached at the lower end of the bulb consists of a cylindrical male side with one or more radial pins that is attached with a female receptor through matching L-shaped slot(s) and with spring(s) to keep the two parts locked together. The slots are shaped like a capital letter L with serif (a short upward segment at the end of the horizontal arm); the pin slides into the vertical arm of the L, rotates across the horizontal arm, then is pushed slightly upwards into the short vertical "serif" by the spring; the connector is no longer free to rotate unless pushed down against the spring until the pin is out of the "serif".
[0003] Most of the bayonet cap existing in the market are made of metallic materials so, chances of failure during Hi-pot test are high & also sometimes lamp get failed due to shorting of live parts of lamp and the lamp holder/socket. The hipot test in general, derived from the term High Potential Test, that is a direct application of a high voltage to a unit under test. The test voltage is usually much higher than the usual operating voltage in order to stress the dielectric properties of the device under test.
[0004] Hence, there is a need of the bayonet cap made of such type of plastic material having enough strength and rigidity to bear the impact of high voltage produced during the Hi-pot test. In addition, there is also a need of the bayonet cap having configuration that also avoid the chances of shorting of live parts.
[0005] Furthermore, the exiting Bayonet Cap are of larger area that is of no use which in turn consume additional materials and also increases the lamp

height. Hence, there is need to reduce that area. This reduction in area results in overall reduction of lamp height and also packing and transportation costs related to this.
[0006] Furthermore, this B22 Cap is integrated with the LED Bulb heat sink that in turn reduces the cost incurred in manufacturing process. In addition, the joining of the bulb with the B22 cap also reduces the cost of production and improve line yield.
OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0007] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfy, are listed herein below.
[0008] It is a general or primary object of the present disclosure to provide a bayonet cap having enhanced voltage bearing capacity.
[0009] It is another object of the present disclosure to provide a bayonet cap having configuration that reduces the chances of shorting of live parts.
[0010] It is yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide the bayonet cap that can easily be integrated with the bulb that in turn reduces the assembly time required.
[0011] It is further object of the present disclosure to provide the bayonet cap that fulfils the requirement of lighting standards.

[0014] In accordance with an embodiment, the present disclosure provides a bayonet cap integrated with a heat sink for a led bulb comprising a cylindrical-shaped housing having a minimal stepped-circular shaped structure formed at an upper end; and a continuous pin fitted inside a groove formed on the base of the cylindrical- shaped structure.
[0015] In accordance with an aspect, the diameter of the stepped-circular shaped structure decreases from top to bottom.
[0016] In accordance with an aspect, the continuous pin is fitted inside the groove through press-fit mechanism.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0035] A few aspects of the present disclosure are explained in detail below with reference to the various figures. Example implementations are described to illustrate the disclosed subject matter, not to limit its scope, which is defined by the claims. Those of ordinary skill in the art will recognize a number of equivalent variations of the various features provided in the description that follows.
[0036] In order to overcome all the problems associated with the existing bayonet cap, the present disclosure discloses the bayonet cap integrated with a heat sink for a led bulb. FIG.1 illustrates various views of the bayonet cap in accordance with the embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG.1 A illustrates a 3D view of a bayonet cap in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Here, the bayonet cap 100 integrated with the heat sink of a LED bulb comprises a cylindrical-shaped housing 102 having a minimal stepped-circular shaped structure 104 formed at an upper end; and a continuous pin 106 fitted inside a groove formed on the base 108 of the cylindrical-shaped structure. The diameter of the stepped-circular shaped structure 104 decreases from top to bottom. The continuous pin 106 is fitted inside the groove 110 through press-fit mechanism. In addition, the continuous pin 106 is clamped through the holes 102a, 102b formed on the lateral sides of the housing 102. In addition, a circular shaped structure 112 (not shown) is attached at the base of the housing 102 externally.

[0037] A zig-zag type of pattern is formed on the back side of the circular shaped structure 112 while viewing from the bottom. A set of rabbit 112a, 112b is attached to the circular shaped structure through zig-zag pattern.
[0038] The configuration of the bayonet cap is completely shown by the FIG.1A-1D.
[0039] The bayonet cap 100 is made of same material as of the lower section 202 of the bulb 200 as shown by green colour in FIG.2. In general, it is made of plastic having enough strength and durability. However, the circular shaped structure 212 attached at the base of the housing 102 externally is made of metal in which a zig- zag type of pattern is formed over which a set off rabbits 102a, 102b are attached that are used for insertion of wires. This zig- zag type of pattern helps in providing better gripping of wire & also to provide support to rabbit holding. The metal is only used for manufacture of the circular shaped structure. Due to which chances of failure during Hi-pot test is less & also reduces the chances of failure of lamp that generally happens due to shorting of live parts.
[0040] In addition, the reason behind the integration of bayonet cap with the bulb helps in reducing the assembly time of complete lamp & also it is economical in overall lamp costing. In addition, the packaging and transportation cost are also reduced. Moreover, the integration of bayonet cap over bulb housing is unique in industry, it is first time any manufacturer tries to do it, since the usage of bayonet cap in industry. The various views of the assembly between the bayonet cap and the lower section of the bulb is shown in FIG.3.

[0042] Through the above proposed configuration of bayonet cap and integration with heat sink for an led bulb, most of the problem related to the existing bayonet cap is solved.
ADVANTAGES
[0043] Due to the proposed configuration of the cap and the assembly between the cap and the lower section of the bulb, assembly of lamp get simplified. The assembly time is also reduced. The safety test of Hi-pot test is fully compliant. The High Voltage break down issue is also resolved. On-cap live parts shorting is also solved. Cost reduction in manufacturing process of both housing & the bayonet cap.

CLAIM
1. A bayonet cap integrated with a heat sink for a led bulb comprising
a cylindrical-shaped housing (102) having a stepped-circular shaped structure (104) formed at an upper end; and
a continuous pin (106) fitted inside a groove formed on the base (108) of the cylindrical- shaped structure.
2. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the diameter of the stepped-circular shaped structure (104) decreases from top to bottom.
3. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the continuous pin (106) is fitted inside the groove through press-fit mechanism.
4. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the continuous pin (106) is clamped through the holes (102a, 102b) formed on the lateral sides of the housing (102).
5. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cap (100) is integrated with the bulb (200).
6. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cap (100) and the lower section (202) of the bulb (200) are made of same materials.
7. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 6, wherein the cap (100) and the lower section (202) of the bulb (200) are made of plastic.

8. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a circular shaped structure (112) is attached at the base of the housing (102) externally.
9. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the circular shaped structure (112) is made of metal.
10. The bayonet cap (100) as claimed in claim 9, wherein a set of rabbit
(112a, 112b) attached to the circular shaped structure (112) through
zig-zag pattern.
