A Bracket Assembly Integrated With A Fifth Wheel Coupling Assembly For Mounting A Trailer Unit Onto A Vehicle
Abstract: The present invention discloses a bracket assembly integrated with a fifth wheel coupling assembly for mounting a trailer unit onto a vehicle. The guide bracket assembly is a two-piece arrangement for hitching/coupling of non-standard trailers with the tractor units. The guide bracket assembly of the present invention comprises a lower bracket member and an upper bracket integrated to each other preferably by welding. Suitable load-transferring curvatures are provided on the bracket members to transfer loads to the chassis of the vehicle. Suitable mounting means are also provided to mount said assembly onto the long member of the vehicle. The upper and lower bracket members re tapered and from a box-like structure to provide improved rigidity and section modulus. A sliding surface of the lower bracket and upper bracket provides the wedge shaped pattern for the trailer with lower mounting heights to climb and couple with the fifth wheel coupling.
