Description: A BUMPER GARNISH STRUCTURE ASSEMBLY

TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present subject matter described herein relates to a bumper garnish. In particular, the present subject matter relates to a bumper garnish structure assembly of a vehicle for maintaining adequate gap and level difference between a hood, headlights, a grill and Left Hand (LH) fender as well as Right Hand (RH) fender.

BACKGROUND
[0002] As the automobile industry is developing, consumers are paying more and more attention towards the appearance quality of automobiles, and a bumper that serves as an automotive body exterior decoration part also has the function such as buffering the hood and absorbing energy in case of impact.
[0003] Referring to FIG. 1a illustrating a sectional view (Section A-A of Fig. 1b) of bumper garnish according to the prior art. A bumper garnish 104 is usually provided in between a hood 102, headlights and a grille 103. Since, the area in between the hood 102, headlights, and the grille 103 is less, the slim bumper garnish 104 is fitted into the space to eliminate the extra space for decorative purposes and also provide as a buffer. As the bumper garnish 104 is slim and lengthy, it becomes difficult to design direct mounting features such as screw boss snap fitting any other locking feature.
[0004] Here the challenge lies in placing the bumper garnish 104 between the hood 102 the headlights, and the grille 103 as well as maintaining appearance quality such as gap and level difference between the bumper garnish 104, the headlights and the grille 103.
[0005] Referring to FIG. 1b illustrating a front view of bumper garnish according to the prior art. At present different design approaches have been used, one of which includes the bumper, the hood 102, the headlights 105, the fender 106, a garnish center 104b, a garnish right 104a, a garnish left 104c, and the grille 103. The bumper garnish 104 which is placed between the hood 102, the headlights 105, and the grille 103 is split into three parts namely the garnish center 104b, the garnish right 104a, and the garnish left 104c creating split lines 107a, 107b.
[0006] Correspondingly, the garnish center 104b, the garnish right 104a, and the garnish left 104c is mounted on the grille 103 and the grille 103 is mounted on the vehicle body between the hood 102 and the bumper. The grille 103 has enough space to create mounting of the garnish center 104b, the garnish right 104a, and the garnish left 104c. At the same time, the grille 103 flows around the headlight 105 as a styling feature. The shape of the bumper garnish 104 is such that it is easy to manufacture the bumper garnish 104 with mountings as shown in section A-A. The bumper garnish 104 top surface is hidden inside the hood area 101 (Ref. to FIG. 1a), so the split lines 107a, 107b is not evidently visible from the outside.
[0007] The drawback with the existing design is that the existing bumper garnish 104 cannot be placed outside of the hood panel 102, due to split lines 107a, 107b visibility concerns. Further, as shown in the section A-A, there is no gap available between the hood 102 and the bumper garnish 104 to add a seal for eliminating wind-cutting noise.
[0008] Further, the existing design also requires additional styling features in the grille 103 to flow along with the bumper garnish 104 for support, but due to the design or styling of the bumper garnish 104, it becomes difficult to do so.
[0009] Therefore, it is required to provide a single bumper garnish that provides an adequate gap and the level difference between the hood, the headlights, and the grill and also provide a seal to reduce the wind cutting noise.

OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0010] It forms an object of the present disclosure to provide a bumper garnish structure assembly to maintain a uniform gap between the hood, the headlights and the grill.
[0011] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a seal in between the hood and the bumper garnish to reduce the wind cutting noise.
[0012] It is another object of the present disclosure to improve the appearance quality of the bumper garnish structure assembly.
[0013] It is yet another object of the present disclosure to optimize the weight and design of the garnish structure assembly for easy assembly.
[0014] These and other objects and advantages of the present subject matter will be apparent to a person skilled in the art after consideration of the following detailed description taken into consideration with accompanying drawings in which preferred embodiments of the present subject matter are illustrated.

[0045] The present invention discloses a bumper garnish structure assembly. The bumper garnish structure assembly is formed of a bumper garnish and a reinforcement. The bumper garnish structure assembly is located in-between hood and the headlights, which connects the Right Hand (RH) side fender to Left Hand (LH) side fender and the bumper garnish structure assembly flows above the surface of the headlights.
[0046] The bumper garnish is formed of two sides, namely a first side and a second side. The first side is perpendicular to the second side.
[0047] The first side and the second side form a space in between to accommodate the reinforcement from the backside of the bumper garnish. The reinforcement is formed of the first side of the reinforcement and the second side of the reinforcement. A seal is positioned in between the bumper garnish and the hood. The seal is basically provided to cut the incoming wind from the outside.
[0048] Referring to FIG. 2(a) and 2(b), the bumper garnish 200 is disclosed. The bumper garnish 200 acts as a main mounting part over which the reinforcement 300 and the seal 400 are fastened. The ends of the bumper garnish 200 are connected to the LH fender and an RH fender respectively. The bumper garnish 200 forms a curved shape. The curvature of the bumper garnish 200 is shaped according to the curvature of the hood 102, the grill 103 and the headlights 105.
[0049] The bumper garnish 200 is formed on the first side 201 and the second side 202. The first side 201 is perpendicular to the second side 202. The bumper garnish 200 forms a step area on the first side 201. The second side 202 has attachments 203, 204a, 204b, 205a, 205b, 206a, 206b that are located adjacent to each other.

[0053] Referring to FIG. 3(a), 3(b) and 3(c) it discloses about the reinforcement 300. The reinforcement 300 is provided in between the first side 201 and the second side 202 of the bumper garnish 200. The reinforcement 300 is also curved and the curvature of the reinforcement 300 resembles the curvature of the bumper garnish 200 so that it is easily accommodated inside the space created between the first side 201 and the second side 202 of the bumper garnish 200. The length of the reinforcement 300 is shorter than the length of the bumper garnish 200.
[0054] The reinforcement 300 is basically added to avoid deformation of the bumper garnish 200 due to its longer width to smaller cross-section ratio.
[0055] The reinforcement 300 also has a first side 301 and a second side 302. The first side 301 is perpendicular to the second side 302. The reinforcement 300 is inserted inside the bumper garnish 200 from the back side. Referring to FIG. 3(a) the second side 302 has the first clips 303a, 303b, 303c, 303d, 303e, 303f to mount the reinforcement 300 and the bumper garnish 200 with the vehicle body.
[0056] The reinforcement 300 has insert plates 304a, 304b, 304c, 304d that are provided on the first side 301 to attach the reinforcement 300 with the grille 103 by means of guideways that are located over the grille 103 for proper placement of the bumper garnish structure assembly from backside of the reinforcement 300. The insert plates 304a, 304b, 304c, 304d are projected in the direction towards the engine cabin.
[0057] Referring to FIG. 3(b) and 3(c), in order to fix the first side 301 of the reinforcement 300 with the bumper garnish 200, fasteners are used. The first fasteners 305a, 305b, 305c, 305d, 305e, 305f and second fasteners 307a, 307b, 307c, 307d, 307e, 307f are used to fasten the reinforcement 300 with the bumper garnish 200 from the first side 301 and the second side 302, respectively. Further second clips 306a 306b are provided to fasten the insert plates 304a, 304b of the reinforcement 300 with the step area on the first side 201 of the bumper garnish 200.
[0058] The locators provided at the first attachment 203 and third attachments 205a, 205b guide the reinforcement 300 in their position with the bumper garnish 200.
[0059] Referring to FIG. 4 discloses the seal 400 that is provided in between the hood and the bumper garnish 200. The step area on the first side 202 of the bumper garnish 200 has a plurality of holes 502 to mount a plurality of third clips 401.
[0060] The seal 400 is connected on the step area on the first side 201 of the bumper garnish 200 using the plurality of third clips 401. The seal 400 reduces the wind cutting noise. The shape of the seal 400 is also similar to the bumper garnish 200 to accommodate the space on top of the bumper garnish 200.
[0061] Referring to FIG. 5(a) and 5(b), it shows right and left holders 501a, 501b that are given at each end of the bumper garnish 200.
