Abstract: A cam shaft of a fuel injection pump is disclosed. The cam 5 shaft 10 having one end 14 coupled to a drive shaft 16 of the engine. The cam shaft 10 comprising at least one cam 18 provided on the cam shaft 10. The cam shaft for the fuel injection pump is characterized such that the cam shaft 10 has a uniform geometry throughout the length of the cam shaft 10. The 10 cam shaft 10 having a coupling interface 20 at one end 14 and a drive coupling 22 having a hole 24 to receive said coupling interface 20 of the cam shaft 10 and to receive a coupling interface 26 of the drive shaft (16) of the engine.
Claims:1. A cam shaft (10) for a fuel injection pump (12), said 5 cam shaft (10)
having one end (14) coupled to a drive shaft (16) of the engine, said cam
shaft (10) comprising at least one cam (18) provided on said cam shaft
(10),
Characterized in that
10 - said cam shaft (10) having a uniform geometry throughout the
length of said cam shaft (10), said cam shaft (10) having a coupling
interface (20) at said one end;
- a drive coupling (22) having a hole (24) to receive said coupling
interface (20) of said cam shaft (10) and to receive a coupling
15 interface (26) of said drive shaft (16) of the engine.
2. A cam shaft (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cam shaft (10)
having a uniform geometry with a cylindrical cross section.
3. A cam shaft (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cam shaft (10)
having a coupling interface (20) with a tang profile.
4. A cam shaft (10) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said tang profile is
a U-shaped tang profile.
5. A cam shaft (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said drive coupling
(22) having a hole (24), said hole (24) having cross shaped profile.
6. A cam shaft (10) as claimed in claim 1 and 5, wherein said Ushaped
tang profile of said coupling interface (20) is in aligned
engagement with at least a part of said cross shaped profiled 5 hole (24) and
said coupling interface (26) of drive shaft (16) of said engine is in aligned
engagement with at least a part of said cross shaped profiled hole (24).
7. A fuel injection pump (12), said fuel injection pump (12)
comprising at least a cam shaft (10) coupled to a drive shaft (16) of an
engine, said cam shaft (10) comprising at least one cam (18) provided on
said cam shaft (10),
characterized in that
- said cam shaft (10) having a uniform geometry throughout the
length of said cam shaft (10), said cam shaft (10) having a coupling
interface (20) at said one end;
- a drive coupling (22) having a hole (24) to receive said coupling
interface (20) of said cam shaft (10) and to receive a coupling
