Abstract: A cavity connector for reinforced earth wall panels is disclosed. The cavity connectors configured to connect geogrid with concrete panel during erection of panels. The cavity connector used in reinforced earth wall panels is manufactured by injection plastic moulding machine. The connector is made of PP/PVC/ABS or any other suitable polymeric material to connect the geogrid with panels & replaces galvanised connection that was at times prove to rusting. The cavity connector is used for commercial applications in the construction of reinforced earth walls and eliminating galvanized connection thereby helping in saving environment & construction of safer reinforced earth walls.
The present invention relates to reinforced earth walls, more particularly relates to cavity box or connector to connect geogrid reinforcement material in construction of reinforced earth walls for bridges, flyovers & Highways.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Generally, the connector used is made of Mild Steel and the galvanization process is used on connection of materials to protect from rusting. Since the connector is fixed during concrete casting of panels, the panel has to be fixed on both side of flyover and the layer has to be filled by soil, there is a lot of possibilities of rusting over the period.
There is a need for the present invention to come with the solution to existing problem in grid connection, due to damage in galvanising after coating of MS steel connection, to avoid corrosion which leads to weaken the connection & chances of failure of the wall increases. Thus, the present invention provides a robust and strong, non-corrosive cavity connector during casting and connection of grid while holding geogrid reinforcement material in construction of reinforced bridges, flyovers & Highways.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, the primary object of the present invention is to provide a non-corrosive, inert connector for geogrid reinforced earth wall.
Name of the Applicant: RAJEEV AGARWAL
Another object of the present invention is to provide a product made of PVC material used as connection to hold the geogrid in construction of reinforced earth walls for bridges, flyover and highways.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide the PVC connector to avoid rusting problem in the existing application, which is novel, used for replacement of galvanized steel to plastic, which is non-corrosive, strong and robust, ensures prolonged life, environment friendly, easy to handle, cost saving, and less time consumption.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to the basic aspects of the invention, there is provided a cavity box or cavity connector used in reinforced earth wall panels, which is made by injection plastic moulding machine.
It is one aspect of the present invention to provide the cavity connector made of PP/PVC/ABS or any other suitable material to connect the geogrid with panels during erection of panels & it replaces rusting prone galvanised connection.
The cavity connector is used for commercial applications in the construction of reinforced earth walls and eliminating galvanized connection thereby helping in reduction of rusting possibility, saving environment & construction of safer reinforced earth walls.

The geogrids are normally made of a composite polymer material in which the highly resistant internal element is of polyester while the external protection element is of PVC (such as the TeleGrid geogid) or polypropylene (e.g. the Merex Geogrids)
or can be made entirely of HDPE (high density polyethylene, such as the Tensar geogrids). The latter are rendered particularly resistant to tensile stress by a process of mono-axial stretching of the element that thus gives a mono directional orientation to the polymer chains.
The use of geogrids as reinforcement elements in earth structures with vertical retaining walls of the type concerned here allows to internally re-inforce the earth in a more uniform way and with a more effective action than with the method employing anchorage systems composed of strips or separate bands. This is because the presence of transverse strips parallel to the retaining wall considerably improves the anchorage capacity to the earth and increases the resistance of the reinforcement to slippage from the earth itself
Moreover, this improved resistance is enhanced by the capacity of the reticular elements to give rise to a "dynamic interlock" with the earth, since the geogrid apertures allow the earth particles to be squeezed inside them during the compaction operation, thus expanding the grid spaces of the polymer reinforcement. When the grid spaces try to return to their initial configuration at the end of the compaction process, the internal stresses generated encapsulate the earth granules and reduce the horizontal thrust of the earth itself against the retaining wall.
