Specification

DESC:FERMENTED POLICOSANOLS, METHOD AND USES THEREOF ,CLAIMS:1. A spent cell free bacterial growth media comprising policosanols.
2. The spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in claim 1, wherein policosanols are fermented.
3. The spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in claim 2, wherein fermented policosanols are as set forth in Table 1.
4. The spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in claim 2, wherein fermented policosanols comprises octacosanol in the concentration of10-1000 ppm.
5. The spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in claim 2, wherein fermented policosanols weight percentage in said media is in the range of 0.4-4%.
6. The spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, further comprising suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients.
7. A method of fermenting policosanols, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a bacterial growth media comprising: (a) policosanols; and (b) at least one ingredient capable of supporting bacterial growth;
b. inoculating at least one bacterial species (105-108cfu/ml) in said bacterial growth media; and
c. culturing said at least one bacterial species in said bacterial growth media at a temperature in the range of 32-39ÂșC for 20-30 hours under constant shaking conditions to ferment policosanols.
8. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein said at least one bacterial species is selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus species such as L. casei , L. rhamnosus , L. fermentum , Streptococci species such as S. thermophilus , Bifidobacteria genera, and Bacillus genera.
9. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein policosanols weight percentage in said media is in the range of 0.4-4%.
10. A policosanols mixture as set forth in Table 1.
11. The policosanols mixture as claimed in claim 10, prepared by a method as claim in any of the claims 7-9.
12. A method of inhibiting cholesterol accumulation in cells, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in any of the claims 1-6; or a formulation as claimed in claim 13; and
b. contacting said media with cells capable of cholesterol accumulation,
wherein said method inhibits cholesterol accumulation in said cells.
13. A formulation comprising a spent cell free bacterial growth media as claimed in any of the claims 1-6; or a policosanols mixture as claimed any of the claims 10-11.
