DESC:FIELD
The present invention relates to clutch assemblies of vehicles.
BACKGROUND
The background information herein below relates to the present disclosure but is not necessarily prior art.
In a highly competitive environment of automobile world, it is essential to provide as many as features and as much comfort to customers to give a pleasant driving experience. One such driving experience comes from the clutch pedal, which is frequently operated by the customer. The clutch pedal operation becomes an important touch point in a manual transmission vehicle during city drive for the customer. Hence, it is important to ensure that the clutch pedal functions comfortably for the customer during his/her entire course of the vehicle drive.
In conventional pedal boxes, the pivot pin shaft is fixed and the hub welded to the pedal shank is the movable part. This makes the clutch susceptible to slip and loss of motion.
Fixing a conventional clutch pedal mechanism in a given packaging space of a transverse mounted engine in a chassis body vehicle becomes challenging due to constrained space. In particular, fixing the clutch master cylinder and the brake booster becomes challenging while meeting the frontal crash and on-board diagnostic (OBD) requirements of the pedal intrusion.
Therefore there is felt a need for a clutch assembly to ameliorate the abovementioned shortcomings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Embodiments, of the present disclosure, will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Embodiments are provided so as to thoroughly and fully convey the scope of the present disclosure to the person skilled in the art. Numerous details are set forth, relating to specific components, and methods, to provide a complete understanding of embodiments of the present disclosure. It will be apparent to the person skilled in the art that the details provided in the embodiments should not be construed to limit the scope of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, well-known processes, well-known apparatus structures, and well-known techniques are not described in detail.
The terminology used, in the present disclosure, is only for the purpose of explaining a particular embodiment and such terminology shall not be considered to limit the scope of the present disclosure. As used in the present disclosure, the forms “a”, “an” and “the” may be intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly suggests otherwise. The terms “comprises”, “comprising”, “including” and “having” are open-ended transitional phrases and therefore specify the presence of stated features, elements, modules, units and/or components, but do not forbid the presence or addition of one or more other features, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
When an element is referred to as being “mounted on”, “engaged to”, “connected to” or ‘coupled to” another element, it may be directly on, engaged, connected or coupled to the other element. As used herein, the term “and/or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed elements.
Terms such as “outer”, and the like, may be used in the present disclosure to describe relationships between different elements as depicted from the figures.
The present disclosure showcases the concept of a clutch assembly (100) against the conventional assembly operated in a given packaging space of a transverse mounted engine in a chassis body vehicle, where, due to a constrained space, fixing the clutch master cylinder and the brake booster becomes challenging while meeting the frontal crash and on-board diagnostic (OBD) requirements of the pedal intrusion.
The clutch assembly (100), of the present disclosure, of a vehicle will now be described in detail with respect to Figure 1 through Figure 4. The clutch assembly (100), of the present disclosure, has been designed to fulfil the functional as well as packaging requirement of the vehicle against the conventional working of all pedals. The assembly (100) is configured to enable the clutch pedal (10) blade and clutch pedal (10) armature (20) to move together against the fixed outer hub of a pedal box (40) without loss of motion and slip.
The assembly (100) comprises a clutch box (40), a bush (30), a clutch pedal (10) and a pivot pin (14). The bush (30) is fitted within the clutch box (40). The clutch pedal (10) is secured to the clutch box (40) by means of shanks terminating within the clutch box (40). The pivot pin (14) is attached to the non-operative end of the clutch pedal (10). The pivot pin (14) is configured to be engaged within the bush (30) to prevent slipping of the clutch when the clutch pedal (10) is pressed. As a result, the frequent wear of the clutch as seen in conventional clutch assemblies is avoided, thereby increasing the life of the clutch.
Fixing the hub to the clutch box (40) and making the pivot pin (14) movable prevents loss of motion while engaging/disengaging with the clutch pedal (10). As a result, the assembly (100) can facilitate engaging and disengaging of the clutch pedal (10) with the clutch while maintaining customer comfort and avoid gear shifting issues. Further, the pivot pin (14) is engaged with the bush (30) with the help of a spacer-bolt assembly (not specifically labelled in figures) which prevents the pivot pin (14) from slipping off from the hub.
In an embodiment, the bush (30) is welded within the clutch box (40).
In one embodiment, the pivot pin (14) is fastened to the bush (30) with the help of fasteners.
In another embodiment, the pivot pin (14) is fastened to the clutch pedal (10). In yet another embodiment, the pivot pin (14) is welded to the clutch pedal (10).
The foregoing description of the embodiments has been provided for purposes of illustration and not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. Individual components of a particular embodiment are generally not limited to that particular embodiment, but, are interchangeable. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the present disclosure, and all such modifications are considered to be within the scope of the present disclosure.
