Specification

DESC:TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The embodiments herein generally relate to power transmission in vehicles, and more particularly to an isolated clutch pedal assembly and method of mounting the clutch pedal assembly.

BACKGROUND
[002] Clutch pedal is used to engage and disengage power from engine to transmission. In vehicles such as tractors, the clutch, which is usually of friction type, is placed between the engine and the transmission. Such positioning of the clutch enables driver to temporarily disconnect the engine from the rest of the transmission and to make a gradual connection when power transmission is required and the tractor begins to move. Such transmission clutches usually consist of one or more friction plates connected to the engine, which are pressed by springs on either side of a disc connected to the remainder of the transmission.
[003] Generally, push type and suspended type actuations are the two types of clutch pedal actuation. Push type actuation is further classified into independent clutch pedal arrangement and brake pedal common shaft arrangement. Brake pedal common shaft arrangement for mounting of a clutch pedal assembly is usually preferred in vehicles, where packaging and space constraints exist.
[004] FIG. 1 shows a conventional brake pedal common shaft arrangement for mounting clutch pedal in a vehicle such as a tractor. As is apparent from FIG. 1, a right brake pedal 10, a left brake pedal 12 and a clutch pedal 14 are mounted on a common shaft 16. Because the common shaft 16 is operated on by the right brake pedal 10, the left brake pedal 12 and the clutch pedal 14, a movement in any of the right brake pedal 10 and the left brake pedal 12 results in a relative movement in clutch pedal 14. Further, in vehicles such as tractors, which are usually operated in an environment which is muddy, slurry or the like, there is an ingress of water, mud or dust which causes corrosion and decreases the efficiency of the component.
[005] Therefore, there is a need for a clutch pedal assembly and a method of mounting the clutch pedal assembly that can obviate the aforementioned drawbacks.
OBJECT
[006] The principal object of the embodiments of this invention is to provide an isolated clutch pedal assembly, which prevents relative movement between the clutch pedal and the brake pedal.
[007] Another object of the embodiments of this invention is to provide a clutch pedal assembly, which prevents ingress and deposition of water, mud, dust or the like inside the shaft.
[008] Another object of the embodiments of this invention is to provide a method for mounting the isolated clutch pedal assembly.
[009] These and other aspects of the embodiments herein will be better appreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0010] The embodiments of this invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, through out which like reference letters indicate corresponding parts in the various figures. The embodiments herein will be better understood from the following description with reference to the drawings, in which:
[0011] FIG. 1 depicts a conventional clutch pedal assembly with a common shaft for clutch and brake pedals;
[0012] FIG. 2 depicts a clutch-brake pedal assembly with isolated clutch pedal assembly, according to the embodiments as disclosed herein;
[0013] FIG. 3 depicts a sectional view of clutch-brake pedal assembly with isolated clutch pedal assembly, according to the embodiments as disclosed herein; and
[0014] FIG. 4 depicts a sectional view of the isolated clutch pedal assembly, according to the embodiments as disclosed herein.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0015] The embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained more fully with reference to the non-limiting embodiments that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and detailed in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments herein. The examples used herein are intended merely to facilitate an understanding of ways in which the embodiments herein may be practiced and to further enable those of skill in the art to practice the embodiments herein. Accordingly, the examples should not be construed as limiting the scope of the embodiments herein.
[0016] The embodiments herein achieve a clutch pedal assembly, which eliminates the relative movement of the clutch and brake pedals by providing an isolated clutch pedal assembly and a method of mounting. Referring now to the drawings, and more particularly to FIGS. 2 through 4, where similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the figures, there are shown embodiments.
[0017] FIG. 2 depicts a clutch-brake pedal assembly 20 with isolated clutch pedal assembly 28, according to the embodiments. The clutch-brake pedal assembly 20 includes a first brake pedal 22, a second brake pedal 23, a first brake pedal link 22L, a second brake pedal link 23L, a common shaft 26 and an isolated clutch pedal assembly 28. The first brake pedal 22, the second brake pedal 23, the first brake pedal link 22L, the second brake pedal link 23L and the isolated clutch pedal assembly 28 are configured to be mounted directly or indirectly onto the common shaft 26.
[0018] As shown in FIG. 3, the isolated clutch pedal assembly 28 includes a clutch pedal 28C, a clutch link 28L, a concentric shaft mounting bracket 28B. The concentric shaft mounting bracket 28B is adapted to be assembled on the housing in which the common shaft 26 will pass through.
[0019] As shown in FIG. 4, the isolated clutch pedal assembly 28 further includes a concentric shaft 28S. Further, the concentric shaft mounting bracket 28B is adapted to house at least two bushes 28U. Each of the bushes is a sintered bronze bush. The bushes 28U provide better coefficient of friction and provide better self-lubricating property. The clutch pedal assembly 28 further includes a dust cap 28D, a dust cap washer 28W and a circlip 28R. The mud cap 28 D and mud cap washer 28W are adapted to prevent mud and slurry entry into clutch pedal 28C during a puddling operation. The circlip 28R is configured to secure the dust cap 28D and the dust cap washer 28W in the isolated clutch pedal assembly 28.
[0020] The foregoing description of the specific embodiments will so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the embodiments as described herein.
