A Collar For A Wheel Mounting Apparatus Of A Vehicle

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a collar (100) for mounting a wheel (12) on an axle (8) of a vehicle (300). The collar (100) includes a body (1) defining a first section (2), a second section (3), and a through opening (4). The body (1) is made of a first metallic material. The collar (100) further includes a sleeve (5) secured to the second section (3) of the body (1). The sleeve (5) is made of a second 10 metallic material. The second metallic material has higher mechanical strength than the first metallic material. The above-described configuration of the collar (100) results in significant weight saving, while also exhibiting sufficient resistance against contact stresses and crushing loads subjected thereto. Weight reduction also helps improving fuel efficiency, handling, and maneuverability 15 aspects of the vehicle (300).
