Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composition comprising catechin and dihydrooxyresveratrol which at specific ratios is able to reduce skin pigmentation. Also provided are the methods for preparation and the use of said composition.

Specification
Claims:1. A composition comprising:
a) catechin; and
b) dihydrooxyresveratrol,
wherein catechin to dihydrooxyresveratrol w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.5 - 1:5.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein catechin to dihydrooxyresveratrol w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:1 - 1:3.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein catechin to dihydrooxyresveratrol w/w ratio in said composition is 1:1.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein catechin to dihydrooxyresveratrol w/w ratio in said composition is 1:2.
5. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4, further comprising:
a) at least one carrier;
b) at least one diluent; and
c) at least one excipient.
6. A method for preparing a composition as claimed in claim 1, comprising:
a) obtaining catechin;
b) obtaining dihydrooxyresveratrol;
c) contacting catechin and dihydrooxyresveratrol to obtain said composition.
7. A method for preparing a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, comprising:
a) obtaining catechin;
b) obtaining dihydrooxyresveratrol;
c) obtaining at least one carrier;
d) obtaining at least one diluent;
e) obtaining at least one excipient; and
f) contacting catechin, dihydrooxyresveratrol, the at least one carrier, the at least one diluent, and the at least one excipient to obtain said composition.
8. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, wherein said composition decreases skin pigmentation by inhibiting the expression of dopachrome decarboxylase.
9. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, wherein said composition decreases skin pigmentation by inhibiting melanin production.
10. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, wherein said composition is used for preparing formulations for skin-lightening products.
