Specification

Claims:1. A composition to promote intracellular glucose uptake, said composition comprising:
a. an extract obtained from at least one plant part of Costus pictus ; and
b. cinnamon bark oil;
wherein, extract of at least one plant part of Costus pictus to cinnamon bark oil w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 3:1-15:1.

2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said extract of at least one plant part of Costus pictus is selected from the group consisting of leaf, flower, stem, root, and combinations thereof.

3. The composition as claimed in claim 3, wherein at least one plant part of Costus pictus is leaf.

4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cinnamon bark oil has cinnamic aldehyde content in the range of 55-78%.
5. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4.
6. A formulation to promote intracellular glucose uptake, said formulation comprising:
a. an extract obtained from at least one plant part of Costus pictus;
b. cinnamon bark oil, and
c. at least one carrier, diluent, and excipient,
wherein extract of at least one plant part of Costus pictus to cinnamon bark oil w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 3:1-15:1.

7. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein said at least one plant part of Costus pictus is selected from the group consisting of leaf, flower, stem, root, and combinations thereof.
8. The formulation as claimed in claim 7, wherein at least one plant part of Costus pictus is leaf.
9. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, wherein said cinnamon bark oil has cinnamic aldehyde content in the range of 55-78%.
10. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 6-9.
11. A method to promote intracellular glucose uptake, said method comprising the steps:
a. obtaining a composition comprising:
i. an extract obtained from at least one plant part of Costus pictus; and
ii. cinnamom bark oil; and
b. contacting said composition with site of intracellular glucose uptake,
wherein said method promotes intracellular glucose uptake.

12. A method to promote intracellular glucose uptake, said method comprising the steps:
a. obtaining a formulation comprising:
i. an extract obtained from at least one plant part of Costus pictus;
ii. cinnamon bark oil; and
iii. at least one carrier, diluent, and excipient; and
b. contacting said formulation with site of intracellular glucose uptake,
wherein said method promotes intracellular glucose uptake.
13. The method as claimed in any of the claims 11-12, wherein at least one plant part of Costus pictus is selected from the group consisting of leaf, flower, stem, root, and combinations thereof, extract of Costus pictus to cinnamon bark oil w/w ratio in said composition or formulation is in the range of 3:1-15:1, and cinnamon bark oil has cinnamic aldehyde content in the range of 55-78%.
