Specification

Claims:1. A composition for inhibition of intracellular cholesterol synthesis, said composition comprising:
- ferulic acid; and
- alpha lipoic acid,
wherein ferulic acid to alpha lipoic acid w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 0.9:1-0.1:1.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein ferulic acid to alpha lipoic acid w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 0.8:1-0.2:1.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein ferulic acid weight concentration in said composition is in the range of 5-8µg/ml, and alpha lipoic acid weight concentration in said composition is in the range of 10-25µg/ml.
4. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-3.
5. A formulation for inhibition of intracellular cholesterol synthesis, said formulation comprising:
- ferulic acid;
- alpha lipoic acid; and
- suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients,
wherein ferulic acid to alpha lipoic acid w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 0.9:1-0.1:1.
6. The formulation as claimed in claim 5, wherein ferulic acid to alpha lipoic acid w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 0.8:1-0.2:1.
7. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-6.
8. A method of inhibiting intracellular cholesterol synthesis, said method comprising:
- obtaining a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-3; and
- contacting said composition with the intracellular milieu of a cell capable of cholesterol synthesis,
wherein said method inhibits intracellular cholesterol synthesis.
9. A method of inhibiting intracellular cholesterol synthesis, said method comprising:
- obtaining a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-6; and
- contacting said formulation with the intracellular milieu of a cell capable of cholesterol synthesis,
wherein said method inhibits intracellular cholesterol synthesis.
10. A composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-3, optionally further comprises at least one suitable carrier, diluent, and excipient for use in inhibiting intracellular cholesterol synthesis.
