Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composition comprising of at least one natural plant extract and 7,8,4-trihydroxy isoflavone, wherein said composition synergistically enhances inhibition of alpha-glucosidase acitivity for maintenance of metabolic health. Also provided are formulations for the same, and methods of maintaining metabolic homeostasis.
DESC:A COMPOSITION COMPRISING OF ANTHOCYANIN AND 7, 8, 4-TRIHYDROXY ISOFLAVONE AND USES THEREOF ,CLAIMS:1. A composition comprising of at least one natural extract and 7,8,4-trihydroxy isoflavone, wherein said composition inhibits alpha-glucosidase.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one natural extract is selected from the group consisting of celery extract, cocoa extract, black currant extract, cranberry extract, acai extract, black raspberry extract, red currant extract, pomegranate extract, mango extract, purple corn extract, chokeberry extract, eggplant extract, blueberry extract, and combinations thereof.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 2, wherein the natural extract has anthocyanin concentration of at least 25%, or ellagic acid concentration of at least 70%, or theobromine concentration of at least 7%, or oleuropein concentration of at least 20%.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one natural extract to 7,8,4-trihydroxy isoflavone w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 4:1-1:4, preferably 3:2-2:3.
5. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one natural extract concentration in said composition is in the range of 0.01%-0.1%, preferably 0.025%-0.075%.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the 7,8,4-trihydroxy isoflavone concentration in said composition is in the range of 0.01%-0.1%, preferably 0.025%-0.075%.
7. A method of inhibiting alpha-glucosidase by contacting a composition as claimed in claim 1 with alpha-glucosidase.
8. A formulation for oral ingestion comprising a composition as claimed in claim 1.
9. The formulation as claimed in claim 8, wherein the at least one natural extract to 7,8,4-trihydroxy isoflavone w/w ratio in said formulation is in the range of 4:1-1:4, preferably 3:2-2:3.
10. The formulation as claimed in claim 8, wherein the at least one natural extract concentration in said composition is in the range of 0.01%-0.1%, preferably 0.025%-0.075%.
