Abstract: The present disclosure provides a composition for inhibiting growth of acne causing bacterial pathogens. Also provided are formulations comprising said composition, methods of preparation and use of same.

Specification

CLIAMS:1. A composition comprising of:
a. Curcuma aromatica oil; and
b. undecanoic acid,
wherein said composition inhibits growth of acne causing bacterial pathogens.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said composition inhibits growth of Propionibacterium acnes.
3. The composition as claimed in any of the claim 1-2, wherein Curcuma aromatica oil weight percentage in said composition is in the range of 0.00125-0.125%, and wherein undecanoic acid weight percentage in said composition is in the range of 0.004-0.5%.
4. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-3, wherein Curcuma aromatica oil to undecanoic acid w/w ratio in said composition is 1:3-1:6.
5. A formulation comprising of a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4.
6. The formulation as claimed in claim 5, further comprising of:
a. at least one preservative;
b. at least one feel enhancer;
c. at least one neutralizer;
d. at least one emollient;
e. at least one humectant;
f. at least one structurant;
g. at least one chelant; and
h. optionally water.
7. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-6, wherein
a. said at least one preservative weight percentage is in the range of 0.005% to 0.5%;
b. said at least one feel enhancer weight percentage is in the range of 0.01% to 25%;
c. said at least one emollient weight percentage is in the range of 0.05% to 20%;
d. said at least one humectant weight percentage is in the range of 0.01% to 10%;
e. said at least one structurant weight percentage is in the range of 0.01 to 7%;
f. said at least one chelant weight percentage is in the range of 0.01% to 0.5%; and
g. water weight percentage is in the range of 20% to 97%.
8. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-7, wherein Curcuma aromatica oil weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 0.00125-0.125%, and wherein undecanoic acid weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 0.004-0.5%.
9. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-8, wherein Curcuma aromatica oil to undecanoic acid w/w ratio in said formulation is 1:3-1:6.
10. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4 or a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-9, said method of preparing said formulation comprising of:
a. mixing water, at least one chelant, at least one structurant, and at least one humectant for 10-20 minutes with constant stirring at 300RPM;
b. mixing at least one emollient, and at least one feel enhancer to a) for 5-20 minutes with constant stirring at 300RPM;
c. mixing at least one neutralizer to b) for 5-20 minutes with constant stirring at 400RPM;
d. mixing Curcuma aromatica oil, and undecanoic acid to c) for 1-10 minutes with constant stirring at 300RPM; and
e. mixing at least one preservative to d) for 1-10 minutes at 300RPM.
11. A method of reducing acne by inhibiting growth of acne causing bacterial pathogens, said method comprising of:
a. obtaining a composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4 or a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-9; and
b. contacting said composition or said formulation with acne causing bacterial pathogen,
wherein said method reduces acne by inhibiting growth of acne causing bacterial pathogen.
12. A composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4 or a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 5-9 for use in reducing acne by inhibiting growth of acne causing bacterial pathogens.
13. A formulation consisting of:
a. water having weight percentage of 86.23%;
b. disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate having weight percentage of 0.05%;
c. carbomer having weight percentage of 0.05%;
d. xanthum gum having weight percentage of 0.1%;
e. glycerine having weight percentage of 3%;
f. butylene glycol having weight percentage of 2%;
g. Curcuma aromatic oil having weight percentage of 0.02%;
h. undecanoic acid having weight percentage of 0.08%;
i. caprylic/capric triglyceride having weight percentage of 5%;
j. isopropyl myristate having weight percentage of 2%;
k. triethanolamine having weight percentage of 0.08%;

l. dimethicone having weight percentage of 1%; and
m. phenoxyethanol having weight percentage of 0.4%.
