PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[001] The present invention relates to a composition for fragrant cement. Moreover, the invention relates to a method of preparing structures using the fragrant cement composition.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Cement is a binding material, used in construction, that sets and hardens in presence of water to form artificial stone-like structures. However, the cement or concrete structures start to smell once the structures get old or if the weather conditions are wet and humid. Especially the cement structures that are built around drainages which continuously come in contact with water tend to start smell and also attract insects. Moreover, in households, substances such as moth balls and toilet deodorant cakes are used for imparting odor and keeping the insects away.
[003] Camphor is an aromatic compound with a strong fragrance. Camphor is generally used in households to impart fragrance to the surroundings however it sublimates at room temperature. This sublimation is slow but continuous. One block of camphor may take as much as twelve hours to disappear completely. The repeated replacement of the camphor bars can be costly and time consuming.
[004] Therefore, there is a need of a composition for fragrant cement which solves the problems present in the prior art as mentioned above.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[005] According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a fragrant cement composition comprising a mixture of cement and camphor, mixed in 30% to 70% of water, by

weight of the cement, wherein said camphor is added to cement in the range of 5% to 55%, by
weight of the cement.
[006] According to another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a fragrant
cement composition comprising a dry mixture of cement and camphor, wherein said camphor is
added to cement in the range of 5% to 55%, by weight of the cement.
[007] According to yet another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a method
of preparing a fragrant cement composition comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a batch of cement paste by mixing cement and water wherein the water is in the range of 30% to 70%, by weight of the cement;
(b) laying a first layer of said cement paste;
(c) adding camphor on top of the first layer of cement paste wherein the camphor is 5% to 55%, by weight of the cement; and
(d) laying a second layer of said cement paste of step (a) on top of the first layer of step (b).
[008] According to another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a method of
preparing a structure by 3D printing using fragrant cement composition comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a mixture of cement and camphor, mixed in 30% to 70% of water, by weight of the cement, wherein said camphor is added to cement in the range of 5% to 55%, by weight of the cement, to prepare a cement paste;
(b) extruding a first layer of said cement paste by a 3D printer; and
(c) extruding a second layer of said cement paste on top of the first layer of step (b).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
[009] The embodiments of the present invention provide a composition for making fragrant cement by blending natural or synthetic scented materials in it. The present invention also provides a method of preparing the composition for fragrant cement.
[010] According to the embodiments of the invention, a fragrant cement composition is provided comprising a mixture of cement and camphor, mixed in water. A mixture of cement and camphor is added in 30% to 70% of water, by weight of the cement. Moreover, the camphor is added to cement in the range of 5% to 55%, by weight of the cement.
[011] It is observed that cementitious binders have a good holding capacity for volatile materials such as camphor and the fragrance of such products do not wear off so easily when they are blended with cementitious compositions. Therefore, the addition of natural or synthetic scented materials in the composition for cementitious binders results in a long lasting fragrance.
[012] In an embodiment, the natural or synthetic scented materials can be selected from a group consisting of camphor, naphthalene balls, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, cumin, powdered teas, dried fenugreek leaves, dried fruits and vegetables or a combination thereof. Usage of all these alternatives of natural or synthetic scented materials are considered to be within the scope of the present invention.
[013] In an embodiment, the natural or synthetic scented materials can be added to the cementitious composition in a solid or a liquid form.
[014] In an embodiment, addition of camphor imparts antimicrobial properties to the cementitious binder composition.

[015] In an embodiment, the natural or synthetic scented materials can be used in both grey cement as well as white cement based compositions. Preferably, the natural or synthetic scented materials can be used to make any cement based products such as mortar, concrete, ready-mix-concrete (RMC), etc. and can be used for 3D printing technique as well.
[016] In another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a method of preparing a fragrant cement composition. A batch of cement paste is first prepared by mixing cement and water. Thereafter, a first layer of said cement paste is laid and camphor is added on top of the first layer of cement paste. A second layer of said cement paste is laid on top of the first layer. These steps are repeated to make a structure of desired size.
[017] According to an embodiment, a mixture of cement and camphor is added in 30% to 70% of water, by weight of the cement. Moreover, the camphor is added to cement in the range of 5% to 55%, by weight of the cement.
[018] Experimental Data:
Advantages and benefits of the embodiments of the present invention would become more apparent from the below experimental details to a person skilled in the art.
Example 1
[019] Pre-determined quantities of cement and camphor powder was taken in different samples and mixed with pre-determined quantity of water in each of the sample. Each sample paste was then casted in a container and de-moulded after 24 hours. All samples below were kept in ambient laboratory conditions.

Table 1:

Material weight of camphor (g) weight of cement (g) Water as a
percentage of
cement- by
weight Remarks
camphor 5 0 0 Camphor fully sublimed in 4 days (nothing left)
camphor 10 0 0 Camphor fully sublimed in 7 days (nothing left)
camphor 50 0 0 Camphor fully sublimed in 16 days (nothing left)
cement and camphor 5 95 40 Fragrance of camphor present after 2 months. Shows that camphor is still present
cement and camphor 10 90 40 Fragrance of camphor present after 2 months. Shows that camphor is still present
cement and camphor 50 100 50 Fragrance of camphor present after 12 months. Shows that camphor is still present
[020] Therefore, from the experimental trials, it was observed that not only the cement gets the fragrance of camphor but also the volatile camphor’s life is also extended.
[021] According to an embodiment, conventional toilet rim blocks are prepared out of the present composition which is a green solution to the problem of bad odor and insects in households.
[022] The foregoing description of specific embodiments of the present invention has been presented for purposes of description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obvious modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching.
