A Composition For Inhibition Of Hair Growth
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composition comprising glycyrrhizic acid and Gymnema sylvestre extract which at specific w/w ratios is able to inhibit the expression levels of ornithine decarboxylase and insulin-like growth factor-1 genes thus, aid in the inhibition or delay of hair growth. Also provided are the methods of preparation and usage of the same.

DESC:A COMPOSITION FOR INHIBITION OF HAIR GROWTH ,CLAIMS:1. A composition comprising:
(a) glycyrrhizic acid; and
(b) Gymnema sylvestre extract,
wherein glycyrrhizic acid to the Gymnema sylvestre extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25 - 1:4.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein glycyrrhizic acid to the Gymnema sylvestre extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:1.5 – 1:4.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein glycyrrhizic acid to the Gymnema sylvestre extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:1.5.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Gymnema sylvestre extract contains gymnemic acid in the range of 75 – 85 %.
5. The composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
(a) at least one carrier;
(b) at least one diluent; and
(c) at least one excipient.
6. A process for preparing a composition as claimed in claim 1, comprising:
(a) obtaining glycyrrhizic acid;
(b) obtaining Gymnema sylvestre extract; and
(c) contacting glycyrrhizic acid and the Gymnema sylvestre extract to obtain said composition.
7. A process for preparing a composition, as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, comprising:
(a) obtaining glycyrrhizic acid;
(b) obtaining Gymnema sylvestre extract;
(c) obtaining at least one carrier;
(d) obtaining at least one diluent;
(e) obtaining at least one excipient; and
(f) contacting glycyrrhizic acid, the Gymnema sylvestre extract, the at least one carrier, the at least one diluent, and the at least one excipient, to obtain said composition.
8. A method to inhibit hair growth, comprising:
(a) obtaining the composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5; and
(b) contacting said composition with hair follicles,
wherein said composition inhibits hair growth.
9. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, wherein said composition inhibits hair growth by inhibiting the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase.
10. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-5, wherein said composition inhibits hair growth by inhibiting the insulin-like growth factor 1.
