Abstract: The present disclosure relates a composition comprising green tea extract in combination titanium dioxide or mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and daprylic/capric triglyceride or both to inhibit the degradation of carotenoids in a cosmetic formulation. The present disclosure also relates to a method to inhibit the degradation of carotenoids in a formulation using the said composition.
Claims:1. A method for inhibiting degradation of at least one carotenoid in a cosmetic formulation, said method comprising the steps of:
a. obtaining a composition comprising:
i. green tea extract; and
ii. at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of:
1. titanium dioxide; and
2. a mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and caprylic/capric triglyceride,
b. mixing said composition with a cosmetic formulation comprising at least one carotenoid,
wherein said method inhibits degradation of said at least one carotenoid in said cosmetic formulation.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least one carotenoid is ß carotene, and lycopene.
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein ß carotene to lycopene weight ratio is in the range of 7:3-9:1.
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein green tea extract to titanium dioxide weight ratio in said cosmetic formulation is in the range of 1:0.25-1:16.66, and green tea extract to mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and caprylic/capric triglyceride weight ratio in said cosmetic formulation is in the range of 1:0.05-1:3.33.
5. A composition for inhibiting degradation of at least one carotenoid in a cosmetic formulation, said composition comprising:
a. green tea extract; and
b. at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of:
i. titanium dioxide; and
ii. a mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and caprylic/capric triglyceride,
wherein green tea extract to titanium dioxide weight ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25-1:16.66, and green tea extract to mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and caprylic/capric triglyceride weight ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.05-1:3.33.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 5, wherein said at least one carotenoid is ß carotene, and lycopene.
7. The composition as claimed in claim 6, wherein ß carotene to lycopene weight ratio is in the range of 7: 3-9:1.
8. A personal care cosmetic formulation comprising:
a. ß carotene;
b. lycopene;
c. green tea extract;
d. titanium dioxide; and
e. at least one cosmetically suitable carrier, diluent, and excipient,
wherein green tea extract to titanium dioxide weight ratio is in the range of 1:0.25-1:16.66.
9. A personal care cosmetic formulation comprising:
a. ß carotene;
b. lycopene;
c. green tea extract;
d. mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and daprylic/capric triglyceride; and
e. at least one cosmetically suitable carrier, diluent, and excipient,
wherein green tea extract to mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and daprylic/capric triglyceride weight ratio is in the range of 1:0.05-1:3.33.
10. A personal care cosmetic formulation comprising:
a. ß carotene;
b. lycopene;
c. green tea extract;
d. titanium dioxide;
e. mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and daprylic/capric triglyceride; and
f. at least one cosmetically suitable carrier, diluent, and excipient,
wherein green tea extract to titanium dioxide weight ratio is in the range of 1:0.25-1:16.66, and green tea extract to mixture of diethylhexyl syringylidene malonate and daprylic/capric triglyceride weight ratio is in the range of 1:0.05-1:3.33.
11. The personal care cosmetic formulation as claimed in any of the claims 8-10, wherein ß carotene to lycopene weight ratio in said personal care cosmetic formulation is in the range of 7:3-9:1.
