Abstract: The problem to be solved is to provide a container with a structure on its wall that can handle high pressure or forces imposed on it including the forces applied while handling and transportation of containers, pressure of the substances stored inside the container and anypressure of more containersstacked above the container applying high pressure to the top of the container, without deforming the surface of the container including the edges between the longitudinal walls and top and bottom surface, and the problem is solved by providing a container wherein the longitudinal walls include reinforced ribs, with at least two convex portions elevating from a first cavity, structured across the surface of longitudinal walls horizontally and between the top and the bottom surface of the container, especially between the longitudinal walls and between the longitudinal walls and top and bottom surface of the container.
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a container, and more particularly relates to the container
wherein the container is provided with a structure for providing strength to the container.
Background
Conventional containers are used for storing different kind of substances for personal, residential
and commercial purposes. However, these containers lack strength to withstand different types of
pressures and forces and therefore it is very likely that the containers get deformed when
exposed to such pressures or forces. In most cases, the outer surface of such containers,
especially the edges between the walls and top and bottom surface get deformed due to the
pressure of internal substances and/or other external forces especially the forces at the top of the
containers which can be due to the pressure of other containers when placed above or the like or
force applied while handling the containers.
US publication number US 2001/0037992 tries to resolve this problem and discloses a bottle
with a waist having horizontal concave ribs along the circumference of the bottle. The waist of
the bottle also has a vertical shaped ribs with narrow central part and wider at either one or both
ends that are placed uniformly across the circumference of the waist of the bottle, to provide
strength to the bottle. However, the vertical ribs in the waist of the bottle are insufficient to
provide strength to the containers to withstand the force or pressure imposed on it. Further, the
vertical ribs and horizontal concave ribs around the waist of the bottle as disclosed in this patent
are also insufficient to provide strength in cases of containers withstanding such pressure without
having any impact on aesthetics or any damage to the container.
The problem to be solved is to provide a container with a structure on its wall that can handle
high pressure or forces imposed on it including the forces applied while handling and
transportation of containers, pressure of the substances stored inside the container and
3
anypressure of more containersstacked above the container applying high pressure to the top of
the container, without deforming the surface of the container including the edges between the
longitudinal walls and top and bottom surface, and the problem is solved by providing a
container wherein the longitudinal walls includes reinforced ribs, with at least two convex
portions elevating from a first cavity, structured across the surface of longitudinal walls
horizontally and between the top and the bottom surface of the container, between the
longitudinal walls and between the longitudinal walls and top and bottom surface of the
container.

Detailed disclosure of the Invention
The present invention discloses a container (100) provided with a chamber used to store
substances like oil, edible oil, water, other liquids or fluids etc. The chamber is covered from the
top by a top surface (120) and from the bottom by a bottom surface (140), such that the chamber
of the container is enclosed between the top surface (120) and the bottom surface (140).
6
As shown in Fig. 1, the container (100) has depressions (122) on its top surface (120) between
the top surface portions (124) that receives the protrusions (142) on the bottom surface (140) of
another container (100) when placed over it. The top surface (120) also includes an opening,
which is covered by a closure (126) such that when the containers (100) are placed over the
other, the depressions (122) on the top surface (120) of the container (100) receives the
protrusions (142) on the bottom surface of another container (100) and the recess on the bottom
surface (140) receives the closure (126) of another container (100). The chamber also has
longitudinal walls (150) between the top surface (120) and the bottom surface (140).
The longitudinal walls (150) are provided with a plurality of ribs (152). These ribs (152) are
uniformly distributed horizontally on the longitudinal walls (150) such that the width of the ribs
(152) is substantially equal to the distance between the ribs (152). The longitudinal walls (150)
also includes a plurality of reinforced ribs (154) that are structured to further include two convex
portions (156) elevated from a first cavity (155) on the longitudinal walls (150) such that these
two convex portions (156) converge towards each other from one of its side on the first cavity
(155) of the reinforced ribs (154). These two convex portions (156) converge towards each other
from their one, thereby forming a connection with each other, whereas from the other side they
are either extended to get connected with the next convex portion (156) or extends only till the
boundary of the first cavity. The reinforced ribs (154) can also be provided or disposed on the
entire longitudinal walls (150) to enhance the strength of the container (150).
As shown in Fig. 2 and 3, the reinforced ribs (154) are provided horizontally on the longitudinal
walls (150) between the top surface (120) and bottom surface (140) especially at the junction
between the longitudinal walls (150) and the top surface (120) and at the junction between
longitudinal walls (150) and the bottom surface (140). The reinforced ribs (154) in this case are
provided on the face of the four longitudinal walls (150) as well as at the junction between the
longitudinal walls (150). The two convex portions (156) in this case conclude at the boundary of
the first cavity (155) without extending to the next convex portion (156), thereby providing
strength to the top and bottom of the container (100). Further, the reinforced ribs (154) are also
provided at the junction of the two longitudinal walls (150) structured parallel with each other. In
7
this case the first cavity (155) extends circumferentially on the longitudinal walls (150) between
the parallel ribs (152) such that the convex portions (156) extend from its other side to get
connected with the next convex portion (156) at the other junction.
As shown in Fig. 3, the two convex portions (156) of the reinforced ribs (154) are elongated
from the first cavity (155) and are converged towards each other to get connected form one of
their sides in one junction between the longitudinal walls (150) thereby providing strength to the
edges of the container (100).
As shown in Fig. 4(a), 4(b) and 4(c), the longitudinal walls (150) of the container (100) include
grooves (159). The grooves (159) are structured verticallyon the longitudinal walls (150) and
near the bottom surface (140) of the container (100). These grooves (159) extend radially
inwardstosaid bottom surface (140), thereby strengthening the edges adjoining said bottom
surface (140) and said longitudinal walls (150) of the container.
As shown in Fig. 4(b), the grooves (159) on the longitudinal walls (150) are located on the
protrusions (142) and other parts of the bottom surface (140) and extend radially inwards to the
bottom surface (140).
As shown in Fig. 5(a) and 5(b), the longitudinal walls (150) can form a concave structure to
enclose the chamber of the container (100) thereby forming a cylindrical container. The
longitudinal walls (150) forming the cylindrical container (100) are provided with reinforced ribs
(154), which are horizontally structured on the longitudinal walls (150).
The present invention is however not limited to the above embodiments disclosed above and
referred in Figures 1 to 4 and other embodiments within the scope of the invention can be used
for achieving the result of the present invention without limiting the scope of the invention.
