Abstract: The present invention relates to a container lid with a tamper indicating spout for a container lid. A spout body is press fitted to a groove provided on the undersurface of the container lid. A plastic ring is welded into the lid and connected to the spout body. This welded plastic ring is a tamper evident ring. Evidence of tampering is provided in a particular area of this plastic ring, which breaks away, or cracks when the lid of the container if forcefully acted upon or tampered with.

A CONTAINER LID WITH A TAMPER INDICATING SPOUT
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention related to a container lid with a tamper-indicating spout The container and container lid may be particularly though not exclusively be made of plastic materials.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The invention provides a tamper-indicating spout for a container and container lid particularly a plastic container and its lid. Containers and closing devices with adequate safety provisions are known in the art. However, to prevent spilling of its contents, containers having a safe closing device or a lid provided with a spout for sufficient indication of intentional or unintentional tampering. One of the objects of this invention is aimed to provide a permanent and visible indication as to whether the container and its contents have been tampered with. Accordingly, the present invention provides a tamper indication arrangement for a container lid, which meets the aforementioned objective.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides spout with a tamper indication means for a container lid. A spout body is press fitted to a groove provided on the undersurface of the container lid. A plastic ring is welded into the lid and is connected to the spout body. This welded plastic ring is tamper evident ring. Evidence of tampering is provided in a particular area of this plastic ring, which breaks away, or cracks when the lid of the container acted upon or tampered with.
Accordingly a container lid with a tamper indicating spout wherein said lid is provided with a spout body and a spout cap, said spout body having a tamper indicating ring disposed around its mouth end and is held in its position by the lid and the spout cap, said ring having a crimped or break away area capable of breaking away when tampered with.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing shows a cross-sectional view of the container lid and the tamper-indicating spout according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION.
The present invention provides container lid with a tamper indication means. The container and the container lid are made up of plastic or any known material. A cross sectional view of the tamper-indication arrangement according to the present invention is shown in figure 1.
A tamper indication arrangement is provided on the undersurface of a plastic container lid (2) of a container. A spout body (A) is press fitted to a groove on the undersurface of the lid (2). The spout body (A) is provide with a cap (B) termed as a spout cap (B) to provide closure to it. The spout body (A) is a crimping ring also termed as a "pull-out" spout, crimped as closure on the container lid (2). Tamper evidence is provided by a tamper-evident ring (C). The ring (C) is also made up of plastic. The plastic ring (C) is firmly held in place with the spout body (A) on one end and is also ultrasonically plastic welded with the container lid (2). The ring (C) is welded to the lid (2) in such a way that any intentional or unintentional tampering or forceful handling of the container, container lid (2), spout body (A) or spout cap (B) is clearly and easily evident from a particular area (D) of the tamper-evident plastic ring (C). The plastic ring (C) breaks away or cracks in this area (D) giving a permanent and clear indication that the container has been tampered with. Thus, the present invention increases the safety and security of the container by providing evidence of any form of tampering.
A typical container which may be used for this invention is a circumferential plastic container. Such container is generally provided to contain a liquid or any fluid substance. Also, the container provides sufficient security to the substance contained within.
This invention also includes a container provided with a cap as described herein above.
Our co-pending Indian Patent Application No. 351/MUM/2005 discloses a spill proof and tamper evident closure device for a container.

WE CLAIM :
1. A container lid (2) with a tamper indicating spout wherein said lid is provided with a spout body (A) and a spout cap (B), said spout body having a tamper indicating ring (C) disposed around its mouth end and is held in its position by the lid and the spout cap, said ring having a crimped or break away area (D) capable of breaking away when tampered with; wherein the tamper indicating ring is ultrasonically welded to the container lid.
2. The container lid as claimed in claim 1 wherein said container lid (2) is made of plastic material.
3. The container lid as claimed in claim 1 wherein said tamper indicating ring is a plastic ring.
4. The container lid as claimed in claims 1-3 wherein said spout body is fixed to a groove provided on the lower surface of said container lid.
5. A container provided with a lid as claimed in any of the preceding claims.
6. A container lid with a tamper indicating spout substantially as herein described with particular reference to the accompanying drawing.
