A Controller And Method To Assist Gearshift In The Event Of Slow Shifts

Abstract: A controller (10) and method to assist gearshift in the event of slow shifts is disclosed. The controller (110) is adapted to receive input signals (114) from the gearbox position sensor (104), determine rate of change in voltage of the gearbox position sensor (104) from the received input signals 5 (114), identify a slow shift (116) by comparing the determined rate of change in voltage of the gearbox position sensor (104) and a predetermined upper threshold (122), determine a shift assist functionality (118) by comparing the determined rate of change in voltage of the gearbox position sensor (104) and a predetermined 10 lower threshold (124) and actuate gear shift based on the shift assist functionality (118).

Specification

Claims:1. A controller (110) to assist gear shift in a vehicle (100), said vehicle
(100) comprising a shift assist sensor (102), a gear position sensor
5 (104),
said controller (110) is adapted to:
? receive input signals (114) from said gearbox position sensor (104);
? determine rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor
(104) from the received input signals (114);
10 ? identify a slow shift (116) by comparing the determined rate of
change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor (104) and a
predetermined upper threshold (122);
? determine a shift assist functionality (118) by comparing the
determined rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor
15 (104) and a predetermined lower threshold (124); and
? actuate gear shift based on said shift assist functionality (118).
2. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said input signals
(114) are voltage readings of said gearbox position sensor (104) over a
time period.
20 3. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said controller (110)
calibrated with said predetermined upper threshold (122) and said
predetermined lower threshold (124).
4. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, detects said slow shift (116)
when the determined rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position
25 sensor (104) is lower than said predetermined upper threshold (122).
5. The controller (110) as claimed in claim 1, activates said shift assist
functionality (118) when the determined rate of change in voltage of
said gearbox position sensor (104) changes by said predetermined
lower threshold (124).
6. A method for assisting gear shift in a vehicle (100), said vehicle (100)
comprising a controller (110), a shift assist sensor (102), a gear position
5 sensor (104),
said method comprising the steps of:
? receive, by said controller (110), input signals (114) from said
gearbox position sensor (104);
? determine, by said controller (110), rate of change in voltage of said
10 gearbox position sensor (104) based on the received input signals
(114);
? identify, by said controller(110), a slow shift (116) by comparing the
determined rate of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor
(104) and a predetermined upper threshold (122);
15 ? determine, by said controller(110), a shift assist functionality (118)
by comparing the determined rate of change in voltage of said
gearbox position sensor (104) and a predetermined lower threshold
(124); and
? actuate, by said controller(110), gear shift based on said shift assist
20 functionality (118).
7. The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said input signals (114) are
voltage readings of said gearbox position sensor (104) over a time
period.
8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said controller (110)
25 calibrated with said predetermined upper threshold (122) and said
predetermined lower threshold (124).
9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said controller (110) detects
said slow shift (116) when the determined rate of change in voltage of
said gearbox position sensor (104) is lower than said predetermined
upper threshold (122).
10. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said 5 controller (110)
activates said shift assist functionality (118) when the determined rate
of change in voltage of said gearbox position sensor (104) changed by
said predetermined lower threshold (124). , Description:A controller (10) and method to assist gearshift in the event of slow shifts is

the gearbox position sensor (104), determine rate of change in voltage of the

functionality (118).
