A Cooling System For A Shock Absorber

Abstract: A cooling unit system is provided comprising either a venturi cooling unit and a cooling fan or a peltier cooling unit. The cooling fan causes the air to fall upon the metal jacket provided in the vicinity of the canister. The venturi cooling unit helps in charging the air for effecting better cooling characteristic with limited area. The peltier cooling unit id used as a temperature controller that cools the shock absorber along with a heat sink provided therein.  Ref Figure 1

Specification

Claims:We claim:
1. A cooling system for a shock absorber of a two wheeler comprising a cooling unit (104), a power source (108), an ambient temperature sensor, a metal jacket (98) located at one end of said shock absorber (100).
2. The cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 1, wherein when the ambient temperature sensor senses increase in a predetermined increase in temperature of said shock absorber (100), it activates the cooling unit (104).
3. The cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cooling unit (104) comprises a cooling fan and a venture cooling unit, wherein said cooling fan is connected to said power source (108).
4. A cooling system for a shock absorber comprising a peltier cooling unit (110), a heat sink (109) a power source (108), an ambient temperature sensor, a metal jacket (98) located at one end of said shock absorber (100).
5. The cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 4, wherein when the ambient temperature sensor senses increase in a predetermined increase in temperature of said shock absorber (100), it activates the peltier cooling unit (110) connected with said power source (108).
6. The cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 1, wherein said metal jacket (98) is provided with suitable fins (111).
7. The cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 4, wherein said metal jacket (98) is provided with suitable fins (111).
8. A two wheeler provided with a cooling system for a shock absorber as claimed in claim 1 and 4.
, Description:The rear shock absorber (100) includes a hydraulic cushion actuating chamber (101) and a coil spring (102) positioned concentrically thereabout. The upper end (99) of the shock absorber (100) is mounted on the frame of the two wheeler (not shown). The lower end (107) of the shock absorber (100) is mounted on the wheel of said two wheeler (not shown). A canister (103) is provided for maintaining the gas charged for better damping characteristics and performance.
In the first embodiment of the present invention as illustrated in Figure 1, a cooling unit system (104) is provided comprising a venturi cooling unit (106) and a cooling fan (105). The cooling fan (105) causes the air to fall upon the metal jacket (98) provided in the vicinity of the canister (103). The venturi cooling unit (106) helps in charging the air for effecting better cooling characteristic with limited area. Further, the cooling unit (104) can be oriented in any direction subject to space ability. A power unit (108) is provided for selective powering at different operating conditions for the cooling fan (105).
In the second embodiment of the present invention as illustrated in figure 2, a cooling unit is provided having a peltier cooling unit (110). A peltier cooler or a thermoelectric heat pump is a solid state active heat pump which transfers heat from one side of the device to other, with consumption of electrical energy, depending on the direction of the current. It can also be used as a temperature controller that cools the shock absorber along with a heat sink (109) provided therein. It is powered by a power source (108). It is placed in the vicinity of the canister (103) at a suitable location. Further, due to this cooling unit (110), the size of the metal jacket (98) can be further extended and few dead coils of the spring (102) could be eliminated thus saving further costs.
Figure 3 illustrates a third embodiment of the present invention with a peltier cooling unit (110) provided with a heat sink (109). The metal jacket (98) provided around the vicinity of the canister (103) has pattern with fins (111) of suitable shapes to increase its surface area for an effective heat disposal and consequent cooling. Similarly, figure 4 illustrates a fourth embodiment of the present invention wherein a cooling unit (104) with a cooling fan (105) has a metal jacket (98) around the vicinity of the canister with fins (111) of suitable shape to increase its surface areas for an effective cooling and maintaining temperature in a suitable working range.
Figure 5 illustrates the flow sheet of the working of the present invention wherein when the ECU sensor provided with an ambient temperature sensor senses increased ambient temperature of shock absorber, it activates the PWM (pulse width modulation) output modulator which further activates the cooling unit may it be either peltier unit or cooling fan.
Although the subject matter has been described in considerable detail with reference to certain preferred embodiments thereof, other embodiments are possible. As such, the spirit and scope of the appended claims should not be limited to the description of the preferred embodiment contained therein.
