The following specification particularly describes and ascertains the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:-
TECHNICAL FIELD
[001] The embodiments herein generally relate to cylinder head in engines and more particularly but not exclusively to cylinder head having centrally positioned spark plug in engines.
BACKGROUND
[002] Generally, for multi-cylinder engines, single overhead camshaft (SOHC) having 4 valves per cylinder configuration are more advantageous as such configuration reduces the friction level in the engine. In the engines with aforementioned configuration, the valve operating mechanism includes a single camshaft extending above the cylinder head and positioned at the upper ends of the intake or exhaust valves, a rocker arm shaft disposed between the camshaft and the other valves, and rocker arms held in engagement with the camshaft and swingable about the rocker arm shaft. The upper ends of the intake or exhaust valves are engaged by the camshaft so that they can be opened and closed when the camshaft is rotated about its own axis. The upper ends of the other valves are engaged by the rocker arms and openable and closable by swinging movement of the rocker arms caused by rotation of the camshaft.
[003] Further, for multi-cylinder engines with single overhead camshaft (SOHC) having 4 valves per cylinder configuration, the spark plug is usually located at the side and hence reduces the combustion efficiency.
[004] A centrally located spark plug increases combustion efficiency and suppresses knocking. However, having the spark plug located centrally is challenging because of the complexity of assembly.
[005] Therefore, there exists a need to centrally position the spark plug in multi-cylinder engines with SOHC having 4 valves per cylinder configuration.
OBJECTS
[006] The principal object of an embodiment of this invention is to reduce friction and improve combustion efficiency in a multi-cylinder engine with SOHC having 4 valves per cylinder configuration.
[007] Another object of an embodiment of this invention is to provide a centrally positioned spark plug enabling better combustion.
[008] These and other objects of the embodiments herein will be better appreciated and understood when considered in conjunction with the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be understood, however, that the following descriptions, while indicating embodiments and numerous specific details thereof, are given by way of illustration and not of limitation. Many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the embodiments herein without departing from the spirit thereof, and the embodiments herein include all such modifications.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES
[009] The embodiments are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, through out which like reference letters indicate corresponding parts in the various figures. The embodiments herein will be better understood from the following description with reference to the drawings, in which:
[0010] Fig. 1 depicts a perspective view of a cylinder head assembly, according to an embodiment of the invention as disclosed herein;
[0011] Fig. 2 depicts a cross-sectional view of the cylinder head assembly, according to an embodiment the invention as disclosed herein; and
[0012] Fig. 3 depicts a cross-sectional view of a cylinder head, according to an embodiment the invention as disclosed herein.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0013] The embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained more fully with reference to the non-limiting embodiments that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and detailed in the following description.
