A Device And Method Of Making Small Drilled Holes At 120 Degree Equi Spaced Along With Inclination To Vertical Axis

Abstract: TITLE: A DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MAKING SMALL DRILLED HOLES WITH INCLINATION TO VERTICAL AXIS The present invention relates to the manufacturing of nozzles for water spraying in the shower test facility for heavy vehicles. More particularly the invention relates to make a device for nozzle drilling to drill smallest diameter hole with 120º apart, at the same time 15º to 60º inclination to the vertical axis. The device is developed to hold the work piece and making the drilled holes in vertical drilling machine without any marking in the work piece. The present invention includes an angular base block to be positioned in the vertical drilling machine (not shown). The drilling is made with three guiding holes 120-degrees apart and the angle of drilling is equal to ‘a’ as per the requirement. The angle ‘a’ is provided in the angular base block depends on the tapered angle required in the work piece for spray hole. The present invention provides production with consistent availability eliminating each and every piece marking time there by substantial reduction in the cost of manufacturing. < TO BE PUBLISHED WITH FIGURE 1>

Claims:1. A device for making small drilled holes at 120 degree equi-spaced along with inclination to vertical axis, comprising:
angular base block (1);
jig holder (5);
jig (6);
drill jig (10);
top allen screw (16);
bottom allen screw (17);
drill bit (18).

2. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the angular base block (1) is provided with a centre hole for chip clearance, named as chip clearance hole (4) and two holes are provided on either side of chip clearance hole (4) named as Allen bolt holes (3).

3. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein a counter bored step (2) is provided in the angular base block (1) top to position the jig holder (5).

4. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the centre of the jig holder (5) and the centre of the counter bored step (2) in the angular base block (1) are one and the same so that the jig holder exactly placed on the counter bored step (2).

5. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Allen bolts are used to tighten the jig holder (5) in the angular base block (1).
6. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the drill jig (10) is made with the outer diameter is equal to the inner diameter of the jig holder (5) so that the drill jig (10) is resting on the jig holder (5).

7. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the jig holder (5) is tightened with bottom Allen screw (17) through the hole (8) provided in the jig holder (5).

8. A method for making small drilled holes at 120 degree equi-spaced along with inclination to vertical axis, comprising:
placing the work piece (14) in the jig holder (5) to rest in the step provided on the jig holder (5);
inserting the drilling in the jig holder (5) and tightened with top and bottom allen screws (17);
feeding the drill bit (18), vertically so that the drill bit will enter inclined holes (13);
rotating the job with drill jig (10) by loosening the bottom Allen screws (17) to an angle of 120-degree to perform the second drilling operation;
repeating the above process for third drilling operation;
taking out the three holes drilled work piece (14) by loosening top and bottom Allen screws (17);
repeating the above operation for drilling another work piece (14);
wherein, three holes are drilled with 120-degree apart without any marking on the work piece (14) and at the same time with an inclined angle of drill equal to taper angle ‘a’.

9. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein the inclined holes (13) will act as a guide to make one hole with an angle equal to ‘a’.
10. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the angle ‘a’ is provided in the angular base block (1) depends on the tapered angle required in the work piece (14) for spray hole (15).
, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:

[001] The present invention relates generally to the manufacturing of a device for nozzle drilling. More particularly the invention relates to make a device to drill smallest diameter hole with 120 degrees apart, at the same time 25-degrees inclination to the vertical axis.

BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION:

[002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.

[003] In the prototype manufacturing of the vehicles such as bus and containers etc. need to make shower test to check the water entrapment inside the vehicle.

[004] The shower test facility is consisting of 13 frames at a distance of 1 meter apart. Each frame is having two vertical headers and one horizontal header at the top. The water spraying nozzle is fixed in the above three headers at a distance of 400mm in between nozzles. 24 nozzles are provided in the on frame therefore 312 nozzles are to be placed in the 13 frames. The hole diameter in the nozzles is 1 mm and there are three holes to be drilled with 120 degrees equally spaced. At the same time the inclination angle 25 degree to the vertical axis for each hole. The nozzle diameter is 16mm (outside diameter) with overall length 40mm.

[005] It is very difficult to mark each and every piece for drilling the hole with above requirement. More over the time consuming will be more if individual marking is carried out. Also due to fatigue of the operator there will be an inconsistency in maintaining the required dimensions. Hence there is a need to design a suitable fixture to make nozzle drilling with above requirement with accuracy and to produce in less time.

[006] In view of the above, there is requirement to devise an apparatus which can address the aforesaid shortcoming(s). Hence, the present invention has been introduced.

[007] The information disclosed in this background of the disclosure section is only for enhancement of understanding of the general background of the invention and should not be taken as an acknowledgement or any form of suggestion that this information forms the prior art already known to a person skilled in the art.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:

[008] It is therefore the object of the present subject matter to overcome the aforementioned and other drawbacks in prior method/product/apparatus.

[009] The present invention is based on the object of providing a device for drilling three holes without marking on the work piece.

[0010] Said object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1. Further, particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the sub-claims.

[0011] Another objective of the present invention is to provide an inclined angle of drilling so as to feed the drilling tool vertically.

[0012] Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a device for mass production.

[0013] Still another objective is to provide consistent quality of the work piece.

[0014] These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which a preferred form of the present invention is illustrated.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:

[0015] One or more drawbacks of conventional systems and process are overcome, and additional advantages are provided through the apparatus/composition and a method as claimed in the present disclosure. Additional features and advantages are realized through the technicalities of the present disclosure. Other embodiments and aspects of the disclosure are described in detail herein and are considered to be part of the claimed disclosure.

[0016] The present invention discloses a device including an angular base block which is to be positioned in the vertical drilling machine (not shown). This angular base block is provided with a centre hole for chip clearance which is named as chip clearance hole two holes are provided on either side of chip clearance hole named as Allen bolt holes. A step is provided in the angular base block top to position the jig holder the centre of the jig holder and the centre of the counter bored step in the angular base block are one and the same so that he jigs holder exactly placed on the counter bored step. The angle ‘a’ is provided in the angular base block depends on the tapered angle required in the work piece for spray hole. Two Allen bolts are used to tighten the jig holder in the angular base block. A step in the jig is made concentrically with a hole for inserting the work piece. Three holes are made with 120-degrees apart on the jig holder. A drill jig is made with the outer diameter is equal to the inner diameter of the jig holder so that the drill jig is resting on the jig holder.

[0017] The drilling is made with three guiding holes 120-degrees apart and the angle of drilling is equal to ‘a’ as per the requirement. Two tapped holes are made in the drill jig one at the top and another at the bottom. The bottom tapped hole is three numbers with 120-degrees apart so as to fix the drill jig with jig holder. The top tapped hole is used to tighten the work piece by means of top Allen screw to arrest the rotational movement of the work piece during drilling. At the same time the three tapped holes provided at the bottom of the drill jig are locked with three numbers of bottom Allen screws to arrest the rotational movement of the drilling.

[0018] By the above arrangement, the work piece is placed in the jig holder to rest in the step provided on the jig holder. The drilling is inserted in the jig holder and tightened with top and bottom Allen screws. Now the drill bit is being fed vertically to make one hole with an angle equal to ‘a’ now by loosening the bottom Allen screws the job with drill jig is rotated to an angle of 120-degree to perform the second drilling operation. This process is repeated for third drilling operation. By loosening top and bottom Allen screws the three holes drilled work piece can be taken out. The above operation is repeated for drilling another work piece. Thus by without any marking on the work piece three holes are drilled with 120-degree apart and at the same time with an inclined angle of drill equal to taper angle ‘a’.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT(S) OF THE PRESENT INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

The drilling is made with three guiding holes 120-degrees apart and the angle of drilling is equal to ‘a’ as per the requirement. Two tapped holes (9) are made in the drill jig (10) one at the top and another at the bottom.

[0036] The bottom tapped hole (11) is three numbers with 120-degrees apart so as to fix the drill jig (10) with jig holder (5). The top tapped hole (12) is used to tighten the work piece (14) by means of top Allen screw (16) to arrest the rotational movement of the work piece during drilling. At the same time the three tapped holes provided at the bottom of the drill jig (10) are locked with three numbers of bottom Allen screws (17) to arrest the rotational movement of the drilling. The tightening is carried out by the markings (19) so that the hole (8) in the jig holder and the hole (12) will be in the same axis.

[0037] By the above arrangement the work piece (14) is placed in the jig holder (5) to rest in the step provided on the jig holder (5). The drilling is inserted in the jig holder (5) and tightened with top and bottom Allen screws (17). Now the drill bit (18) is being fed vertically so that the drill bit will enter the inclined holes (13) which will act as a guide to make one hole with an angle equal to ‘a’ now by loosening the bottom Allen screws (17) the job with drill jig (10) is rotated to an angle of 120-degree to perform the second drilling operation. This process is repeated for third drilling operation. By loosening top and bottom Allen screws (17) the three holes drilled work piece (14) can be taken out. The above operation is repeated for drilling another work piece (14). Thus by without any marking on the work piece (14) three holes are drilled with 120-degree apart and at the same time with an inclined angle of drill equal to taper angle ‘a’.
