Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a device for and a method of correcting without flame heating transverse distortion of Panels caused during formation of the same by welding machines for high pressure boilers.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Panel is fluid carrying equipment used in high pressure boiler; It is converting water to steam by absorbing heat energy from boiler or inside furnace. Panels are formed by adding the tubes with each other in between flats (fins). Forming the panels being done with conventional Submerged Arc Welding Machines (SMAW) and Gas Shield Arc Welding machines(GSAW).
Referring Fig1. The panel with transverse distortion resting on the plurality of the stand (2).
Panels are made up of number of tubes outside diameter ranging from 38.1 to 63.5 mm, the no of tubes of the panel is varying from 6nos to 46 nos, the width of the panel is varying from 1000mm to 2800mm,the length of the panel is varying from 10m to 24m and the weight of the panel is from 1000kgs to 7000kgs.

During the panel formation at panel forming machine, so many welding torches connecting the tube with fins by SMAW or GSAW welds methods. Because of those welding process enormous amount of heat is generated and affecting the panel’s shape, flatness etc. Affect the flatness is called transverse distortion. Normally to correct the transverse distortion, after finding the transverse distortion area, the lot of weights can be kept on that place and after getting flatness the hot correction will be carried out. These hot corrections may spot heating or pitch heating process. This may take several minutes or more than an hour to heat the panel, so the cycle time is huge. Even after heating the panel there is a process failure also.
So, there was a need to find out the alternative method to correct the transverse distortion .Because of finding new method, the overall process can be simplified.
Extensive search conducted and no similar pattern available across the globe.
No prior art search available with respect to the present invention.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, it is an object of the invention to propose a device for and a method of correcting without flame heating transverse distortion of Panels

caused during formation of the same by welding machines for high pressure boilers, which is capable of achieving the result without the hazards of heating the panel.
Another object of the invention is to propose a device for and a method of correcting without flame heating transverse distortion of Panels caused during formation of the same by welding machines for high pressure boilers, which is able to reduce cycle time consumed and save huge cost.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is the method to correct the transvers distortion in panel fabrication without heating the panel.
Referring Fig.2 for transverse distortion correction a device has been designed with two steel rectangular boxes. These two boxes are made by welding the two channels size of 100x50x6mm and boxes are coupled with two steel side plates size of 920x330x6mm and the screw jack with 5 ton capacity used for giving load to panel distortion area. Moreover a steel bed is used to carry the screw jack and on top of the screw jack another steel pad is used to press the panel in distortion area.
Now the setup is ready for distortion correction.

Referring to Fig.3 the side elevation shows the component along with the panel before correction. The screw jack screwed between the panels by rotating the handle attaches with the steel pad and the distortion corrected panel with developed design component are shown in Fig.4. By rotating the handle in reverse direction the screw jack is removed along with the steel pad. The side plates and the top and bottom boxes can be moved along with the length of the panel and distortion can be corrected by inserting the screw jack with steel pads and handles to do the correction as explained above. The range of distortion is varying from 20 mm to 80 mm, which can be corrected without flame heating as explained above.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a device and a method to correct the transvers distortion in panel fabrication without heating the panel.
Referring Fig.2 for transverse distortion correction a device has been designed with two steel rectangular boxes. These two boxes (3) are made by welding the two channels size of 100x50x6 mm and boxes are coupled with two steel side plates (4) size of 920x330x6 mm and the screw jack (5) of 5 ton capacity used for giving load to panel distortion area. Moreover a steel bed (6) is used to carry the screw jack and on top of the screw jack another steel pad (7) is used to press the panel in distortion area.
Now the setup is ready for distortion correction.
Referring to Fig.3 the side elevation shows the component along with the panel (1) before correction. The screw jack (5) screwed between the panel by rotating the handle attach with the steel pad (7) and the distortion corrected panel (1) with developed design component are shown in Fig.4. By rotating the handle in reverse direction the screw jack (5) is removed along with the steel pad (6). The side plates (4) and the top and bottom boxes (3) can be

moved along with the length of the panel (1) and distortion can be corrected by inserting the screw jack (5) with steel pads (6) and handles to do the correction as explained above. The range of distortion is varying from 20 mm to 80 mm, which can be corrected without flame heating as explained above.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION OVER PRIOR ART
With enormous heating process involved in the prior art, the present invention proves to be a noble method to correct the transverse distortion without heating the panel. The comparison of cycle time after new method has been used is shown below.

Above table shows there is substantial saving of manpower, consumables and cycle time. Hence productivity is increased, and at the same time there is huge cost saving.
