CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS AND PRIORITY
[001] The present application claims priority from Indian provisional application no. 201921001657 filed on 14th January 2019.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[002] The present subject matter described herein, in general, relates to a device for marking parallel offset profiles. More particularly, the device relates to marking corresponding parallel offset profiles from the profiled edge of a component.
BACKGROUND
[003] Generally, prior to any machining operation, an operator marks profile lines on a surface of an object, using a ruler, french curves, compass, etc. When parallel offset profile lines are to be drawn with respect to the edges of the object and the length of the parallel profile line to be drawn is of greater magnitude, the rules or scales currently used are of limited size, which restricts or prevents marking of parallel offset profile lines in a single stroke. Thus, due to limited size of the scale or the ruler, the parallel line of greater magnitude has to be drawn in several strokes. This activity is time consuming and relies heavily on the skill of the operator to ensure accuracy. Also, when a regular or an irregular profile has to be replicated on a curved surface such as the hull of a ship, the currently used tools fails to enable ease of operation and accurate replication of the profile. So a device should be developed to accurately mark the parallel offset profile lines with ease on the component.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0018] Some embodiments of this disclosure, illustrating all its features, will now be discussed in detail. The words "comprising", “having”, and "including," and other forms thereof, are intended to be equivalent in meaning and be open ended in that an item or items following any one of these words is not meant to be an exhaustive listing of such item or items, or meant to be limited to only the listed item or items. Although any systems and methods similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice or testing of embodiments of the present disclosure, the exemplary, systems and methods are now described. The disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the disclosure, which may be embodied in various forms.
[0019] Various modifications to the embodiment will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and the generic principles herein may be applied to other embodiments. However, one of ordinary skill in the art will readily recognize that the present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments illustrated, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features described herein.
[0020] Figure 1 shows an exploded view of the device for marking corresponding parallel offset profiles from the profiled edge of a component.
[0021] Referring now to figure 2 and 3, in one aspect of present invention, a device for marking corresponding parallel offset profiles from the profiled edge of a component is disclosed. The device for marking corresponding parallel offset profiles from the profiled edge of a component comprises a connecting plate (6) configured to hold together a pair of bearings (5) below the hand piece (1). A scriber (4) is further securely mounted to a hand piece (1) by a wing nut (8). A stud (2) is configured to pass through the wing nut (8) and secure the scriber (4) to the hand piece (1). Further, the scriber (4) is slotted along its length and can be adjusted longitudinally by operating the wing nut (8) for selecting the desired marking parallel offset distance. Moreover, the scriber (4) can be adjusted to a length ranging from 5 mm to 50 mm. The scriber (4) has a marker mounted perpendicular to the scriber (4) to enable marking of line on the component. When the device is pushed by the operator to mark a parallel offset profile on the component, the bearing (5) connected to the hand piece (1) firmly contacts and follows the profile edges of the component, thereby enabling accurate marking of a continuous line by the marker of the scriber (4). Further, the marker attached to the slotted scriber for marking of parallel offset may be made of high speed steel. The bearings (5) used may be roller ball bearings.
[0022] Further, the invention can be used, but not limited to, in the following applications.
