Abstract: To overcome frequently occurring failures in welding machines due to accumulation of dust on the internal components and fault or welding return current due malfunction or improper connection and loose contact in welding terminals is avoided by sensing the underlying abnormalities before they occur a protection device (100) is configured in all welding machines irrespective of its technology, capacity, or application. The device (100) comprises a printed circuit board (PCB) or a control board which receives feedback from dedicated sensors (2,3,4) installed at strategic locations on the welding machine. The device (100) continuously monitors the operational parameters and senses for abnormalities. Upon sensing the fault, the control signals the type of fault and sends command to the welding machine and interrupts the operation in order to protect it. The device (100) is reset by trained personnel after restoring the abnormality in the welding machine and placed back into operation.
