FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heaters adaptable to power plant
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The high pressure feed water heaters are part of the thermal regeneration system in the power plants. These heaters basically increase the feed water temperature before it is put into boilers for the generation of steam. The heating medium is steam which is taken from various taping points from the turbine. The pressure on the feed water side will be in the range of 200 to 400 kg per sq.cm depending on power rating of the cycle. These heaters are vertical/horizontal type and made of hemi-head/multi-lock system for closing the channel side end cover. The problem experienced that it is difficult to remove the thick end cover of the multi lock system at site due to its heavy weight and space constraints. A quick removal mechanism has been developed to take out the thick end cover within a short period.
The Vertical High Pressure Feed Water Heater with a flat end cover having a multi-lock system will have the following strong limitations during removal of the cover at site for checking the internals, monitoring the tube failures and the tube leakages etc.
1) The heater has to be mounted vertically and the space available for manual removal of bottom end cover is limited due to very less clearance available between the bottom end cover and the floor.
2) Very close tolerances are available between the end cover and the heater which causes the removal of the end cover difficult.
3) Sealing grooves prevent easy removal of the end cover.
4) Removal of half-cut pipe
5) Removal of shear and backing key
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore, an object of the present invention to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which eliminates the disadvantages of existing state of art.
Another object of the present invention is to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which makes the operation simple.
A further object of the present invention is to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which ensures safety to human beings.
A still further object of the present invention is to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which is very efficient in operation.
An yet further object of the present invention is to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which consumes less time for removal and refitting of the end cover.
An yet another object of the present invention is to propose a new device for quick assembly and disassembly of heavy bottom end cover of vertical feed water heater which reduces the shut down period of power plant.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
A supporting mechanism for Assembly and Disassembly device shown in Fig.l in the sketch attached has been invented for ease of removal of bottom end cover. The supporting mechanism consists of guide pins which will engage with the tapped holes in the end cover. Once the guide pins are engaged with bottom end cover, it is firmly secured and can be lowered with the vertical axis in position.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF
THE INVENTION
As shown in Fig.l, the new device comprises a steel structure (1) wherein two long steel channel members (3 and 4) are transversely weld joined by a plurality of small steel channel members (4,5,6,7,8,9)
so as to form a rectangular in shape. Four guiding rods (10), two rods on each side of the device are provided which hold the end cover during dismantling. Four brackets (11) are provided at four corner of the device for lifting or handling.
For removal of end cover (12) of vertically positioned Feed water heater (13), the device is lifted by means of a jack or lifting pulley arrangement engaged in brackets at fogr corners. Placing the device (1) just below the end cover (12) and engaged the four guiding rods (10) with the end cover (12) unlocking/opening the fastening bolts of the cover. Dismantling the end cover (12) of the water heater (13) by pushing the device (1) along with the cover downward by means of jack or pulling the device along with the cover downward by means of a chain pulley arrangement as shown in Fig.3.
Again, for mounting the end cover (12) with the heater (13), the cover (12) is placed on the device (1) matching with the four guiding rods (10) around the cover (1), lifting the device (1) by means of a jack or chain pulley arrangement, positioning the cover at right place and locking the bolts and other fastening parts. Release the device (1) by disengaging the guiding rods (10) and lowering the device (1) by means of a jack or chain pulley arrangement.
