FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fixture for safe handling and road transport of
Emergency stop valve and control valve (ESV-CV) of steam turbine of a thermal power
plant. More particularly, the invention relates to a device for safe handling and road
transportation of emergency stop and control valves (7) with or without yoke applicable
to steam turbine.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Emergency Stop valve – Control Valve (ESV-CV) is a Critical part of steam turbine in
thermal power plant. The ESV-CV has a weight of about 10 Tons. In order to transport
this component to power plant site, a special type handling and transportation device is
essential. There are mainly two designs of ESV & CV corresponding to high pressure
and low pressure governing system. Accordingly, two types of packages made of wood
are used for dispatch of the item. Now a days, consumption of wood is being
discouraged to protect environment, hence there is a need to develop environment
friendly packages using steel which will replace prior art handling devices. Further, it is
also envisaged that a common optimized device should be developed which can be
used for both the designs of ESV-CV.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore an object of the invention to propose a device for safe handling and road
transportation of emergency stop and control valves with or without yoke applicable to
steam turbine.
Another object of the invention is to propose a device for safe handling and road
transportation of emergency stop and control valves with or without yoke applicable to
steam turbine which is capable of handling the valve safely and transport it to a device
for safe handling and road the power plant site without any damage.
A still another object of the invention is to propose a device for safe handling and road
transportation of emergency stop and control valves with or without yoke applicable to
steam turbine which is capable of providing a proper seating arrangement to the ECVCV
so that the delicate components of the valve do not come at the supporting
locations to avoid damages.
A further object of the invention is to propose a device for safe handling and road
transportation of emergency stop and control valves with or without yoke applicable to
steam turbine, which is enabled to reduce stress in fillet welds between the crossing
horizontal beams during lifting of the valves for transportation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, there is provided a device for safe handling and road transportation of
emergency stop and control valves with or without yoke applicable to steam turbine
comprising a base made of I-section beams; a plurality of horizontal parallel beams;
forming an upper deck of the base, a plurality of horizontal beams intersecting the
horizontal beams at right angle and forming a lower deck of the base; a plurality of
horizontal channels connecting the I-sections of the base; a plurality of steel strips
provided for arresting the transverse movement of emergency stop and control valves
characterized in that all the horizontal beams are arrange to be disposed just below the
channels to support the channels and in that multiple wooden blocks are fastened with
the horizontal beam/channel or the upper deck beam for accommodating the ESV-CV
sitting over the blocks having provision of a three point support to the valves.
The device consists of a base made of at least six of I-section beams, out of which four
are parallel in horizontal plane and remaining two intersecting them at right angle and
are also horizontal. These I-sections beams are connected to two horizontal channels.
ESV-CV (7) is supported on wooden blocks which blocks are mounted on the horizontal
channels. The upper deck beams and the ESV-CV (7) sits over the wooden block. Steel
strips are provided to arrest the transverse movement of the emergency stop valve and
control valve.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Figure 1 – shows the fixture for holding and transporting ESV-CV of 250/270/300 MW
steam turbine according to the invention.
Figure 2 – shows the fixture holding the ESV-CV.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE
INVENTION
Main aspect that was considered during the design is to make a universal device
suitable for transportation of both the design of ESV & CV with or without Yoke
applicable against High pressure and low pressure governing system respectively.
Base of the transportation package has been fabricated of 6 number of I-beams. A pair
of opposite facing channels are welded together to manufacture these I-section. Out of
these 6, lower four beams (1) are parallel to each other in horizontal plane, forming the
lower deck and remaining two (2) are placed above lower deck in the horizontal plane
and intersecting the lower beams at 900, these are forming the upper deck. Lifting is
done through two end beams of lower deck. Two horizontal channels (4) and one
channel (5) are connected with I-sections of upper deck (2). Location of channels is
fixed in such a way that no delicate point of ESV-CV comes to their locations. To
support ESV & CV above these channels wooden blocks (6) are fastened with this
horizontal beams and ESV-CV sits over these wooden block (6).
A dual deck arrangement which consists of upper deck (2) and lower deck (1) is
provided to avoid to avoid tensile stress on fillet welds, as shown in Figure 1 during
lifting. The fixture is made in such a way that ESV-CV valve sits on the fixture at three
points in a horizontal plane. Further, additional two points are made to arrest the
transverse movement of ESV & CV and securing using steel strips (8) as shown in
Figure 2.
