Abstract: A device for securely suspending an article from a vehible comprising a first end for being rigidly attached to apart of the body of the vehicle and a second formed into a hook for suspending the article therfrom; a spring -loaded clip pivotably mounted above the hook such that the clip is capable of being manually (I)opened against spring sesilience to uncover the mouth of the hook and therby enable the article to be suspended from the book and(II)closed , under spring resilience, to securely cover the said mouth, therby preventing the article from coming off the hook
This invention relates to a device for suspending an article from a vehicle, whether motor driven or manually operated.
Articles, such as, a bag or briefcase, among others, are hung from a hook provided on vehicles, such as two wheeler motor vehicles, usually from a hook attached to the pillion handle. Auto rickshaws often have a need for suspending such articles of passengers; so do motor cars. Even manually powered vehicles, such as, rickshaws meant for transporting school going children would find the device useful for suspending school bags and the like while travelling.
Such hooks are prone to the drawback that articles hung therefrom tend to come oft during movement of the vehicle, for instance on a bumpy road, so much so that even if a hook is provided the rider of a two wheeler motor vehicle is constrained to precariously balance the article on the [uol tank of the; vehicle or wedge the article between his legs while the vehicles is in motion;
It is an object of this ijavif^itfyv tfecrofarv to propose a device for securely suspending such a|^les frton a veiiide without coming off during movement of tht? yeijJejfe.
It is another object df thija Mve^tipn ip propose a device as aforesaid which is simple in itscbri^uetioijji and function, needing no operational skills ibr j^Hjaⅈ;m& use
Yet another objec^oftti^j^v60^ is to propose a device as aforesaid, which ietjds ^ofrto mass man u menu e and ease in installation on the aaj#^^%j&nie.
The device for securely suspending an article from a vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a first end for being rigidly
/;' I
attached to a part of the body of the vehicle and a second end formed
into a hook for suspending the article therefrom; a sprinj^loaded clip pivotably mounted above the hook such that the c%> /Mmpftble of being manually (i) opened, against spring resilience^ toluncbver the

mouth of the hook and thereby enable the article to be %ni$ptmd&d from

the hook and (ii) closed, under spring resilience, to segurely cover the said mouth, thereby preventing the article from coming off the hook.
Other advantages and features of this hweatioii will bo apparent from
its further description given hereunder with reference to the
accompanying drawings which illustrate by way of example, and not
by way of limitation, one of possible embodiments or/this invention,
Fig. 1 illustrating the device with the mouth of the hook uncovered
And
Fig.2 illustrating the device with the month of the hook covered,
As already stated, the term "vehicle" in this specification mcanu and includes any vehicle to which this invention, is applicable.
The device proposed herein has a first end El for being rigidly attached to a part of the body of the vehicle, such as the pinion handle of a two wheeler motor vehicle to which the drawings vdite and a second end £2 formed into a hook H for suspending an article, such as, a brief case B therefrom.
The device fturmer comprises a spring-loaded clip C pivotably located at P on the base of the pillion handle D above the hook H.
By this arrangement, the clip C is capable of being manually opened by the user, against spring resilience, to uncover the mouth M of the hook H and thereby enable the briefcase B to be suspended from the hook. The clip C is also capable of being manually closed by the user, under spring resilience, to securely cover the said mouth M thereby preventing the bag from coming off the hook. The spring resilience under which the clip C acts, urges the said clip against the mouth of the hook H $.Mf to prevent the briefcase B from coming off trhe hooH during movement of the vehicle.
According to * variation of the embodiment just described thw clip C and the mouth M of the hook H have a mating catch at F. whereby the clip C engages with the mouth M in a snap fit whenever the clip is made to cover the mouth. This is a further precaution against the clip working loo»e during movement of the which.
The terms and expressions in this specification are of description and not of limitation since various other embodiments are possible without departing from the scope and ambit of this invention.
We Claim:
1. A device for securely suspewdmg an article from a vehicle comprising a first end for being rigidly attached to a part of the body of the vahiole and a second md formed into a hook for suspending the article therefrom; a spring-loaded clip
pivotably mounted above the hook such that the clip is capable of being manually (i) opened, against spring resilience, to uncover the mouth of the hook and thereby enable the article to be suspended from the- hook and (li) closed, under spring resilience, to securely cover the said mouth, thereby preventing the article from coming off the hook.
2. A device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the vehfck is a two
wheeler motov vehicle and the part of the body ofsuch vehicle
is the pillion handle.
3. A device as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims
wherein the clip and the mouth of the hock ns engugeaiiie "m a
snap fit.
4. A device for securely'suspending an Article from a vehicle
substantially as herein described with reference to, and as
