A Device For Selecting The Range And Speed Of An Electric Vehicle

Abstract: A device for selecting the range and speed of an electric vehicle, comprising a range selector switch; a mode selector; a controller; a throttle sensor; and a display board interconnected together, the power input from the controller to the sensor being first transmitted to the mode selection unit and, based on the position of the range selector switch, the said power being transmitted to the said sensor at pne of three levels low, medium pr high, the output of the said sensor being fed to the controller for determining the range and speed pf the vehicle the selection being visually shown on the said display board as "low", " medium" or "high", as the case may be, as an indication to the rider of the range and speed of travel.

Specification

This invention relates to a device for selecting the range and speed of an electric vehicle, more particularly, though not exclusively, a two wheeler vehicle.
An object of this invention is to propose a device as aforesaid which enables the range and speed of an electric vehicle to be selected so that the user knows what the range and speed of travel are going to be. This speed-range parameter is indicated on a display board installed on the instrument panel of the vehicle as Low, Medium and High.
Another object of this invention is to propose a device as aforesaid which is simple in its construction, economical in use and effective in operation.
The device for selecting the range and speed of an electric vehicle, according to this invention, comprises a range selector switch; a mode selector; a controller; a throttle sensor; and a display board interconnected together, the power input from the controller to the sensor being first transmitted to the mode selection unit and, based on the position of the range selector switch, the said power being transmitted to the said sensor at one of three levels low, medium or high, the output of the said sensor being fed to the controller for determining the range and speed of the vehicle the selection being visually shown on the said display board as "low", " medium" or "high", as the case may be, as an indication to the rider of the range and speed of travel.

This invention will now be described with reference to the single Figure in the accompanying drawings which illustrate by way of example, and not by way of limitation, one of possible embodiments of the device proposed herein
The range and speed of the electric vehicle are selected by using the range selector switch A and mode selector B . The input power to the throttle sensor D from the controller C is first given to the selector B, and depending upon the position of the range selector switch the sensor input power will be restricted to three different levels, namely, low, medium and high, which will determine the sensor output signal to the controller C which in turn will determine the range and speed of the vehicle. This selection is also shown on a display board E on the instrument panel of the vehicle as Low, Medium and High. "Low" indicates the selected low range and high speed of the travel of the vehicle
"Medium" indicates the of lected d medium range and medium speed of travel of the vehicle.
"High" indicates the selected high range and low speed of travel of the vehicle.
It will be appreciated from the foregoing that various other embodiments of this jnventin are possible without departing from the scope and ambit thereof

We Claim:
l.A device for selecting the range and speed of an electric vehicle, comprising a range selector switch; a mode selector; a controller; a throttle sensor; and a display board interconnected together, the power input from the controller to the sensor being first transmitted to the mode selection unit and, based on the position of the range selector switch, the said power being transmitted to the said sensor at pne of three levels low, medium pr high, the output of the said sensor being fed to the controller for determining the range and speed pf the vehicle the selection being visually shown on the said display board as "low", " medium" or "high", as the case may be, as an indication to the rider of the range and speed of travel.
2. A device for selecting the range and speed of an electric vehicle, substantially as herein described and illustrated.
