Abstract: In this invention, frequently occurring failures in three-phase inverter-based machines, especially high-power induction heaters, due to voltage fluctuations, specifically over-voltages and under-voltages, in gate driver circuits is avoided by sensing the underlying abnormalities before they occur. A protection device (100) is deployed in all induction heating machines by extension, inverter-based power devices. The device (100) comprises of a sensing board or PCB which receives feedback from gate pulse signals of the gate drives (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) installed on the machine. The device (100) continuously monitors the operational parameters and senses for abnormalities. Upon sensing the fault, a signal is transmitted for isolation. The type of fault encountered is determined and sends command to interrupt the operation of the induction heating machine. The device (100) is reset by trained personnel after restoring the abnormality in the gating signals from the gate drivers (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) and return back into operation.
