Description:DESCRIPTION:
Field of the invention:
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to the technical field of medical instruments and, in specific relates to a multi-functional dialysis machine with an improved structure that can simultaneously perform a dialysis treatment to multiple patients and provides entertainment, relaxation, and distraction to the patients during the dialysis treatment.
Background of the invention:
[0002] Dialysis is a medical procedure that takes the place of kidneys' normal job of eliminating extra fluid and wastes from the blood, including sodium, ammonia, potassium, and urea. Acute renal failure, which occurs when kidney function has significantly declined to the point that uremic syndrome poses a hazard to the body's physiology, or chronic renal failure, which occurs when the kidneys' function has been compromised for an extended period of time.
[0003] There are two major types of dialysis, namely hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Peritoneal dialysis is in which a dialysate solution is injected into the peritoneal cavity through a tube during peritoneal dialysis therapy, after being allowed to soak up waste materials in the cavity for a while, the fluid is eventually extracted through the tube and disposed of. Peritoneal dialysis is frequently used as an initial form of therapy for patients with chronic renal failure before switching to hemodialysis.
[0004] Hemodialysis involves the removal of the patient's blood from the body via an arterial line, dialysis treatment, and blood return via a venous line. The device filters the blood through tubes made of a semi-permeable membrane in a dialyzer. A dialysate solution is present on the membrane outside. The dialysate solution is created by filtering waste materials and extra fluid from the blood via a semi-permeable membrane. The barrier prevents the loss of larger, more desired molecules, such as blood cells, specific proteins, and polypeptides, while allowing waste and a limited amount of fluid to infiltrate into the dialysate.
[0005] Renal disorders are generally very common among people all around the world. As the number of patients rises daily, dialysis devices are unable to maintain up. There is a huge market for dialysis machine production.
[0006] There are approximately 950 nephrologists in dialysis in India. There are 700 dialysis centres with a total of 4000 dialysis machines, mostly in the private sector and centred primarily in cities, particularly metros. These centres serve around 20,000 dialysis patients. As the number of patients rises daily, dialysis devices are not sufficient to treat all of them. People who have renal disorders suffer more in rural locations.
[0007] The dialysis process takes 3 to 4 hours to complete in one session for one patient. A patient on dialysis visits the hospital for this facility three times weekly. Renal patients should wait for their treatment up to the time slot allocated due to the lack of dialysis machines. Due to the limited availability of the dialysis machines, there is an increase in the waiting period for patients. Hemodialysis is the most common type of dialysis and the one most people are aware of. Hemodialysis procedures can be performed in homes or hospitals by using hemodialysis machines.
[0008] In hospital hemodialysis machine includes a dialysis machine and a chair for the patient. These devices take up more space, which limits the number of dialysis units that may be used. Occupying more space is one of the reasons for the limited availability of dialysis machines in hospitals.
[0009] The dialysis process takes 3 to 4 hours to complete in one session for one patient. If the patient wants to relax in between the processes, then he or she needs to convert his or her chair into a reclining position. The reclining position of the chair consumes more space when compared to the sitting position of the chair. So, this reclining position in the dialysis process increases space consumption. When undergoing dialysis with the existing dialysis machine, the patient with psychological dread phobia feels uneasy owing to the positioning of dialysis equipment. The improved dialysis equipment, which provides superior relaxation and entertainment, requires a greater number of additional components and is more expensive.
[0010] By addressing all the above mentioned problems, there is a need for a multi-functional dialysis machine with an improved structure that can simultaneously perform a dialysis treatment to multiple patients and provides entertainment, relaxation, and distraction to the patients during the dialysis treatment. There is also a need for a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that saves time by scheduling dialysis for two patients at the same time on a single dialysis machine. There is also a need for a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that eliminates the need of additional components for providing entertainment to the user. There is also a need for a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that saves the space by providing recliner and cycling (exercise) arrangement within the dialysis machine. There is also a need for a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that reduces the maintenance cost by arranging the dialysis process to the two patients in a single machine.
Objectives of the invention:
[0011] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional dialysis machine with an improved structure that can simultaneously perform a dialysis treatment to multiple patients and provides entertainment, relaxation, and distraction to the patients during the dialysis treatment.
[0012] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that saves time by scheduling dialysis for two patients at the same time on a single dialysis machine.
[0013] Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that eliminates the need of additional components for providing entertainment to the user.
[0014] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that saves the space by providing recliner and cycling (exercise) arrangement within the dialysis machine.
[0015] Further objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional bi-directional dialysis machine that reduces the maintenance cost by arranging the dialysis process to the two patients in a single machine.
