PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
TITLE OF INVENTION:
A Drilling Adaptor for milling machine
FIELD OF INVENTION:
The invention generally relates to a tools for use in milling machines or drills and more
particularly to a drilling adapter for use in milling machines.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
A drilling adapter is used, when drilling operation is done on a milling machine. The adapter is usually mounted on a spindle with the help of tie rod or draw bar. When Drilling is to be done for higher diameter, then the pilot drilling is to be done. At that time the drilling adaptor is to be mounted and removed from the spindle frequently. Because drill's shank sizes are different and some time drift cannot be used. And if we use higher shank size adaptor then various sleeves are to be used that causes the restriction of milling machine table up movement (Z axis), overhanging of tool also increased. Hence there is a need to provide an adapter to overcome all the problems mentioned above.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to obviate the above mentioned drawbacks.
Another object of the invention is to provide a drilling adapter for milling machine to eliminate the over hanging of the adapter completely.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an adapter improve the increase the rigidity of the clamping tool.
Yet another object of the present invention is to reduce the maximum travel time of the adapter during milling operation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The various embodiments of the present invention provide a drilling adapter for milling machine. The drilling adapter comprises of an external taper, an internal taper, a tapped holes and a counter bored holes or clamping holes. The drilling adapter includes an ISO external taper which suits to milling machine spindle nose. The internal is a Morse taper which is suitable for Drills, reamers etc. the drilling adapter unit is clamped on the spindle of the milling machine by face mounting method. The pair of tapped holes is provided on the face of the adapter. These two tapped holes are used for removing adaptor from milling machine spindle after the drilling is over. These tapped holes are of same sizes that are of clamping studs used for face clamping,
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIG. 1 shows a sectional view of the adapter for milling machine, according to one embodiment
of the present invention.
FIG. 2 shows a bottom view of the adapter of FIG. 1, according to one embodiment of the
present invention.
FIG. 3 shows an isometric view of the adapter of FIG. 1, according to one embodiment of the
present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Due to limitations as described above there is a need to provide a drilling adapter for milling machine.
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
FIG. 1 shows a sectional view of the adapter for milling machine, according to one embodiment of the present invention. With respect to FIG. 1, the drilling adapter includes an outer taper suit which suits the milling machine spindle. The inner taper suit is provided to suit the drill shank.
The tapped holes and a counter bored holes or clamping holes are provided on the base of the drilling adapter. The drilling adapter includes an ISO external taper which suits to milling machine spindle nose. The internal is a Morse taper which is suitable for Drills, reamers etc. The drilling adapter unit is clamped on the spindle of the milling machine by face mounting method.
FIG. 2 shows a bottom view of the adapter of FIG. 1, according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, the pair of tapped holes is provided on the face of the adapter. These two tapped holes are used for removing adaptor from milling machine spindle after the drilling is over. These tapped holes are of same sizes that are of clamping studs used for face clamping.
FIG. 3 shows an isometric view of the drilling adapter of FIG. 1, according to one embodiment of the present invention. The drilling adapter assembly is to be clamped on the spindle by face mounting method. It shows two tapped holes on face. These two tapped holes are used to removing adaptor from milling machine spindle after the work is over. These tapped holes are of same sizes that are of clamping studs used for face clamping. These tapped holes are of same sizes that are of clamping studs used for face clamping.
ADVANTAGES
• To eliminate the over hanging of the adapter completely.
• To increase the rigidity of the clamping tools.
• To eliminate the frequent removing of adaptor.
• To reduce the maximum travel time of the adapter during milling operation.
• To increase the accuracy of drilled holes.
• To perform the various drilling operation efficiently.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
