Abstract: This invention relates to a duel fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles comprising of smaller capacity fuel tank enabling the vehicle to get started in gasoline mode followed by switching over to CNG/LPG mode.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank.
BACKGROUND
The CNG/LPG system for automotive passenger vehicles is such that it requires starting of the vehicle in Gasoline mode. This requires installation of a gasoline tank in such vehicles.
Currently, full capacity gasoline tank is provided in the CNG/LPG Dual fuel vehicles. This not only is detrimental from the environment point of view as the vehicle can be run for longer distances in gasoline mode, but also has disadvantage in terms of cost and weight of the Dual Fuel vehicle, whose weight always increases due to extra weight of the CNG/LPG Kit.
The basic logic of Green vehicle is defied in case a complete high capacity gasoline tank is installed as in any Gasoline passenger vehicle, since the customer can run for longer distances on gasoline. This results in increased emissions which is basic disadvantage.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION
Primary object of the present invention is to provide a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the invention is to provide a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank which is simple in construction.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank which is environment friendly.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank which is light in weight and cost effective.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided a duel fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles comprising of smaller capacity fuel tank enabling the vehicle to get started in gasoline mode followed by switching over to CNG/LPG mode.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Figure 1 shows: mounting of full capacity fuel tank on underbody area.
Figure 2 shows: mountings of gasoline fuel tank in underbody.
Figure 3 shows: mounting of smaller capacity fuel tank on frame assembled on the mounting points.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE DRAWINGS
The present invention discloses a dual fuel (CNG/LPG) passenger vehicles with smaller capacity gasoline tank comprising of the order of less than 10 litres enabling the vehicle to get started in Gasoline mode followed by switching over to CNG or LPG made.
Further, the production costs and model development time is minimized because the same body structure is used for Gasoline and CNG/LPG mode.
As shown in the accompanying figures, mountings are provided in underbody area for mounting the smaller capacity fuel tank. Mountings of the fuel tank can be commonized with full capacity fuel tank. The fuel tank is provided on a frame as shown which is assembled on the common mounting points.
ADVANTAGEOUS FEATURES
1. Environment Friendly: It enables the starting of the vehicle in Gasoline mode and subsequent switch over to the CNG/LPG, which satisfies the technical requirements of CNG/LPG kit functionality. Since there is only one small capacity tank of the order of less than 10 litres, this can only be used by customer for starting the CNG/LPG vehicle, and to enable him to reach the nearest CNG/ LPG filling point, in case, the vehicle runs out of LPG or CNG. Customer cannot run the CNG/LPG vehicle, in gasoline mode for longer distances; which results in reduced emissions and hence is environment friendly.
2. Easy Layout & Simple construction: It is simple to layout as it requires less space in vehicle.
3. Cost Optimisation & Weight Advantage: It is light weight and cost effective as compared to prior art which uses full capacity gasoline tank.
4. Usage of common Body structure for both conventional Gasoline and new CNG/LPG Options: Reduced Model development cost & time. It also provides option of conversion of the existing one into the present invention (Gasoline→ CNG/LPG).
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
WE CLAIM
