A Process For Detecting And Estimating Fe Content In Galvannealed Coating
Abstract: A system for detection and estimation of Fe content in galvannealed coatings, a fast and non-contact process, comprising: collection of galvannealed IF steel sheets with substrate thickness 0.8 mm with coating weights ranging from 60 g/m2 to 100 g/m2 from a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), cutting of sheets into samples having dimension of 9.6cm by 4.7cm, uniform heating of galvannealed test samples employing a heat source of about 2KW for a duration of 30 sec to 60 sec, capturing the heat radiated from the samples, determining the average temperature of the samples from the histogram of the thermal image, and plotting the curve correlating the change in average temperature of the heated galvannealed samples with the Fe content in the ores obtained from chemical analysis of the ores followed by prediction of alumina content in the unknown iron ore samples from the generated calibration curve.
