Abstract: The present disclosure provides a fermented cell free bacterial growth media that can inhibit growth of malodor causing bacterial species. Also provided in the present disclosure are formulations comprising said fermented cell free bacterial growth media, and methods of preparing said media.
CLIAMS:1. A fermented cell free growth media for inhibition of growth of at least one malodor causing bacteria.
2. The fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1, wherein said fermented cell free growth media is fermented by growth of at least probiotic lactic acid bacterial species selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCDC 291, Lactococcus lactis NCDC 94, and combination thereof.
3. The fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1, wherein said fermented cell free growth media comprises of reconstituted skim milk (skim milk powder at 5-10% w/v concentration), sodium citrate having w/v concentration in said fermented cell free growth media of 0.2-0.4%, and yeast extract having w/v concentration in said fermented cell free growth media of 0.125-0.5%.
4. The fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 3, further comprising of at least one compound secreted into the said fermented cell free growth media by at least one probiotic lactic acid bacterial species selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCDC 291 and Lactococcus lactis NCDC 94.
5. The fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1, wherein said fermented cell free growth media at a concentration of at least 10%, effectively inhibits growth of malodor causing bacteria.
6. The fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1, wherein said fermented cell free growth media inhibits growth of malodor causing bacteria at pH ranging from 4-6.5.
7. A formulation for topical application comprising of a fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1.
8. The formulation as claimed in claim 7, further comprising of suitable excipients.
9. The formulation as claimed in claim 7, wherein said fermented cell free growth media weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 10-30% w/w.
10. A method of preparing a fermented cell free growth media for inhibition of growth of at least one malodor causing bacteria, said method comprising of:
a. preparing a milk based bacterial growth media comprising of 5- 10% w/v reconstituted skim milk, 0.2-0.4% w/v sodium citrate, 0.125-0.5% w/v yeast extract, and water as diluent;
b. inoculating said milk based bacterial growth media with at least one bacterial species selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCDC 291, and Lactococcus lactis NCDC 94;
c. incubating for 24-48 hours at 30-37°C;
d. separating liquid whey from fermented curdled milk in said milk based bacterial growth media; and
e. centrifuging and filtering said centrifuged supernatant to obtain said fermented cell free growth media.
11. A formulation comprising of:
a. water having weight percentage in the range of 45-90%;
b. at least one fragrance having weight percentage in the range of 0.1-5%;
c. butylated hydroxytoluene having weight percentage in the range of 0.01-0.2%;
d. ethyl hexyl glycerine having weight percentage in the range of 0.3-1%;
e. PEG40 hydrogenated castor oil having weight percentage in the range of 0.1-5%;
f. fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1 having weight percentage in the range of 10-30%; and
g. butylene glycol having weight percentage in the range of 0.2-10%,
wherein said formulation inhibits growth of malodor causing bacteria.
12. A method of inhibiting growth of malodor causing bacteria, said method comprising of:
a. obtaining a fermented cell free growth media as claimed in claim 1 or a formulation as claimed in claim 7 or 11; and
b. contacting said fermented cell free growth media or said formulation with malodor causing bacteria,
wherein said method inhibits growth of said malodor causing bacteria.
