A Fixture For Mounting Of Ceiling Fan

Abstract: A fixture for mounting and un-mounting of a ceiling fan assembly from a U-shaped clamp in the ceiling is provided. The ceiling fan assembly comprises of the fan motor and fan blades being supported below from a down rod having a J-slit. The fixture comprises of a mounting hook encapsulated in a rubber gasket sleeve and a key. The mounting hook and the key are pivotally held together with a key holder.. The key is retractable and extendable in the mounting hook subject to an action of a spring. The key when retracted against the spring releases the key from the free end of the mounting hook and an extension of the key facilitates a coupling to the U-shaped clamp. The key holder is provided with a hook to latch a firm support with the J-slit in the down rod.

PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention and the manner in which it is to be performed:

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a fixture for mounting of ceiling fans.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a novel fixture for mounting of ceiling fans on the ceiling. As is well known, mounting a ceiling fan properly on the ceiling is a cumbersome process and requires careful alignment ceiling fan downrod with a preassembled shackle kit, A shackle kit usually contains a set of clips, a set of nut and bolt. The mounting procedure typically involves lifting the fan motor and blade assembly and aligning the holes in the downrod with the shackle kit holes and bolt them together with a nut and a split pin. Such an installation procedure becomes difficult and tedious as the fan motor with the blade assembly is quite heavy and requires co-ordinate effort of more than one person. It is desirable to make the fan mounting/unmounting procedure simple and easy.
Accordingly, what is needed is a ceiling fan mounting system that can overcome the above-described deficiencies.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the invention is to provide a fixture that can facilitate easy mounting and unmounting of an assembled fan to the ceiling.

Several aspects of the invention are described below with reference to examples for illustration. It should be understood that numerous specific details, relationships, and methods are set forth to provide a full understanding of the invention. One skilled in the relevant art, however, will readily recognize that the invention can be practiced without one or more of the specific details, or with other methods, etc. In other instances, well known structures or operations are not shown in detail to avoid obscuring the features of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
According to the invention a fixture for mounting and un-mounting of a ceiling fan assembly from a U-shaped clamp in the ceiling is provided. The ceiling fan assembly comprises of the fan motor and fan blades being supported below from a down rod having a J-slit. The fixture comprises of a mounting hook encapsulated in a rubber gasket sleeve and a key. The mounting hook and the key are pivotally held together with a key holder, the key being held in a slot provided in the mounting hook.
The following is a detailed description of the invention with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the fixture attached to the down rod in which the key is shown extended, according to an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a schematic diagram of the fixture attached to the down rod in which the key is shown retracted, according to an embodiment of the invention.
In the drawings, like reference numbers generally indicate identical, functionally similar, and/or structurally similar elements.
Figure 1 is a schematic diagram depicting the fixture in which the key 2 is shown extended and inserted in a slot provided in mounting hook 1. Mounting hook 1 and the key 2 are held pivotally by a key holder 3. Key holder 3 is shown attached to a hook 6 below which latches a firm support on the J-slit 5 provided in the down rod 4 which supports the ceiling fan assembly below. The mounting hook 1 is further provided with a rubber gasket 7 to absorb the vibrations arising out of the ceiling fan rotation and giving a firm support to the U-clamp normally provided in the ceiling.
Figure 2 is a similar schematic diagram of the fixture which shows the key in a retracted position. A spring coil (not shown) is provided within the key holder 3 against which the key 2 is retracted to disentangle the fixture from the U-clamp.

We claim:
1. A fixture for mounting and un-mounting of a ceiling fan assembly from a U-shaped clamp in the ceiling, wherein the ceiling fan assembly comprises of the fan motor and fan blades being supported below from a down rod having a J-slit, the fixture comprises of:
a mounting hook encapsulated in a rubber gasket sleeve and a key therein being pivotally held together with a key holder, wherein the key holder is provided with a hook to latch a firm support with the J-slit in the down rod, wherein the key is retractable and extendable in the mounting hook subject to an action of a spring acting on the key, wherein retraction of the key against the spring releases the key from the free end of the mounting hook and an extension of the key facilitates a coupling to the U-shaped clamp.
