Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fixture for safe transportation of Intercepter valve (IV) and control valve (CV) of a steam turbine equipped with high pressure governing system.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
IV & CV is the key component of steam turbine in any Thermal Power Plant. The IV & CV assembly along with Stop and Control Valves has a weight of about 19 Tons and dimensions of 4.2 m X 3.4 m X 1.8 m.
In recent past many steam turbine module toppled during road transportation and there has been huge monetary losses due to this. With huge weight of subject assembly and limitation of support location due to complexity of the product, the transportation fixture should be safe from strength point of view for carrying the component with Indian road conditions. Hence there was a need to design a new fixture for safe transportation of IV & CV for 250/270 MW capacity steam turbines.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, it is an object of the invention to propose a fixture for safe
transportation of intercepter valve (IV) and control valve (CV) of a steam turbine
equipped with high pressure governing system, which is capable of safe transport of
said valves.
Another object of the invention is to propose a fixture for safe transportation of intercepter valve (IV) and control valve (CV) of a steam turbine equipped with high pressure governing system, which is able to undertake the entire weight of intercepter valve (IV) and control valve (CV) during transportation of the same.
A further object of the invention is to propose a fixture for safe transportation of intercepter valve (IV) and control valve (CV) of a steam turbine equipped with high pressure governing system, which is capable of providing the facility for the complete package to be easily lifted with the lifting arrangement disposed in the structure.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 : Detailed drawing of the fixture for safe road transport of IV & CV of
250/270 MW Steam Turbine.

Fig. 2 : Details of Wooden necks and Covers used in the fixture.
Fig. 3 : Top view of the transport fixture with I Beams, cross beams and wooden
necks.
Fig. 4 : Shows front view of wooden blocks with necks of transport fixture.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The use of wooden packages earlier for transportation of IV & CV of a steam turbine met with failures several times. Accordingly, in the present invention steel structure has been designed to transport 250/270 MW IV & CV package. Optimization of steel structure has been done by designing the structure as per shape of IV and C V that is a ā€˜L’ shape structure. The unsymmetrical structure of the IV and CV is properly supported at 3 points preventing it from toppling in view of Indian road condition.
The base (B) of the transportation fixture (T) is made of four vertically placed I Beams (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) connected crosswise with four cross beams (3A, 3B, 3C and 3D) placed horizontally. The vertical I Beams (2) are fabricated with two channels. Four vertical wooden necks (4, 5, 7 and 8) of semi-circular shape are fixed on the base for carrying the entire weight of Intercepter valve and control valve of a steam turbine. To

prevent the axial and lateral movement, wooden racks are clamped to the base (B) by stud and nuts. The IV and CV (1) is seated on four semi-circular wooden blocks (4, 5, 7 and 8). A cover (6) is provided for the protection of inlet and outlet end of IV and CV during transportation and storage at site.
The device called fixture for safe road transport of IV & CV of a Steam Turbine is designed as a fabricated steel structure. Base of the fixture has been formed by four vertical wooden neck (4, 5, 7 and 8) bolted (9, 10) to steel structure for load transfer. Height of the package has been optimized for better stability. Multiple studs have been used to enhance rigidity of the structure. The fixture has a base formed by a number of I beams in transverse direction connected by longitudinal I beams and a number of fabricated steel plates for rigidity. Already available contours of IV and CV have been used for fixing it with transportation package. Fixture has been designed in such a way that complete package can be easily lifted with the structure.

WE CLAIM
1. A fixture (T) for safe transportation of intercepter valve (IV) and control valve
(CV) of a steam turbine with high pressure governing system, the said fixture
comprising;
a plurality of fabricated I beams (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) connected cross wise with a plurality of I Beams (3A, 3B, 3C, 3D) forming a base structure (B) of steel wherein, four vertical wooden necks (4, 5, 7 and 8) are disposed on the base structure (B) for carrying the entire weight of said valve when the wooden blocks are clamped on the structure (B) by stud and nut wherein the cover (6) is disposed for the protection of inlet and outlet end of IV and CV during transportation and storage at site.
2. The fixture as claimed in claim 1, wherein three vertical I Beams (2) are connected with three cross wise I Beams horizontally placed.
3. The fixture as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of vertical I Beams (2) are fabricated with two channels.
